liked it quit a lot... as lone survivor and as DM. the theme (Dead Space video games), art and game mechanic combined give me the horror game I "always wanted"... and yes, I know that even in the backing stage voices were loud against the 3vs1-DM-thingy... my playing goup apparently just don't has this problem

Really enjoyed this as a 1v1 but Tom is right about how it was advertised. I’ve only played 1v1 and I wouldn’t play it as a 3v1. However I disagree on other points. The rules are handled well and actually the rule books makes sense and the cross over is good to be fair.

I wholeheartedly agree with Tom. I gave this a try twice. Once as the hero and another as one of two DMs. I was not my own DM but rather sharing the same role with someone and left me disappointed. If I play it again it would be 1v1 (and maybe enjoy it) but that's not what the game was advertised for and probably wouldn't touch it after.

My girlfriend and I love this game, it's a great 1 v 1 game. I don't really have any intention to play it with more than 2 people. I would recommend it for couples or people who only have one friend to play with.

Backed the 2nd run of this on kickstater. Just got it the other day. Wife and I have been playing and we're having a LOT of fun. As a side note, I'm the DM for our D&D group and my wife is a total murder hobo so me playing the Evil side while she took the Captain hero character fit very well for an evening of gaming, haha

I agree that the 3v1 mode seems a bit tacked on but disagree with pretty much everything else and just didn't think this was a very good review in terms of explaining what about the core gameplay was lacking. The rules are pretty basic and the same rules are repeated several times in each rule book so reading each one is more about getting different perspectives. I don't think the evil player "sacrifices" any of their fun although they obviously have more work to do updating everything (maybe that's what he meant?). Maybe I'm wrong but I get the strong feeling that Tom just played the game a few times 3 v 1 and didn't like that mode. I honestly don't see how you can validly judge the campaign stuff without even playing it. As someone who bought the base game in Essen I wasn't sure if I needed the new KS stuff but the backer benefits are extremely generous with a lot of stuff for 15 euro so I got on board. And lastly yeah it's a whole lot closer to Dead Space than Alien/s.

Agree with your review Tom. The fact that it's nor really 3 DMs against one and they partitioned actions of one player to 3 people is bothersome to say the least. Too over complicated and I think it could have been better had it been refined as a 1v1 game.

Interesting review! I just got this game and we did two games of 3 v 1, but we all liked it. I was on the Evil side both times and I'm not sure I'd want to play the hero side. We really liked trying to destroy our friend and so far the Hero has never won in my house. I can see how being 1 v 1 would be better because it was hard to share at times BUT my friends had some pretty good ideas of what to do next and overall it worked out for us.

Funny thing is, I was worried this was so geared towards 3vs1, that I was watching this review to find out if 1vs1 is doable (i.e. just my partner and me playing) - so I guess...good news for us.

It sounds like a solid idea for a game. Just poorly implemented? What would be the thing to be changed to make it better? I ask as I am a new game designer. Just not graphic design minded. (Might finally Kickstart)

@@LabrnMystic have you played the game? Asking what a game did wrong in a review, especially in the comments of a reviewer known to have opinions that polarize the gaming community, will not get you useful information unless you plan to market exclusively to Dice Tower fans.

Saw this game on KS a year or so ago. Thought it looked kinda interesting but completely forgot about it. For the past few weeks, I've been trying to remember what the name of this game was and if it was successful. Even going as far as looking through tons of past KS games that were funded and still never saw it. Started thinking I will never find out what happened to it. Well, today I randomly open KZbin and see this game. Thank you for (legit)randomly reminding me what this game was! Talk about a weight off my mind!

Shame. When I heard about this concept, I was hoping for the indie PC game "Crawl" as a board game. This is Hero Quest with 3 people splitting Zargon's role for one player to play an uber-hero. Not fun.

To be fair, this is the most lazy and inaccurate reviews Tom did. He isnt even motivated (maybe because he's sick). He seems to be pissed the whole overview. I usually agree with him a lot, but this is just too much trash-talking. Listen to him, most of the time he is like "everythings fine", then at the end he is like "everythings crap". Wtf. Ok, i get it, its a 1v1. Yes. But as a 1v1 it's such a nice game. And playing the bad guy is so much fun, too.

Maybe its a bad game, i dont know, i wasnt gonna to buy it anyway. But you shouldnt be making reviews when you are sick. Its bad for videos as a whole and you can hurt game in a process. And its not pleasant to watch.
