Zombicide + Arcadia Quest = The Cult of Barnacle Bay.

Z-Dub Arcadia Quest for sure!

I mean you got exploding dice and mob movement from Arcadia Quest. Then pulled mob spawning and XP gaining from Zombicide. They didn't even try to change it. The mob spawning cards look just like Zombicide spawn cards.

It’s hard to be innovative in board games these days, but apart from the initiative track, all parts seem to be copied from Zombicide or AQ like you said. So what is the USP of this game? The theme? I don’t want to doubt the good intentions of this designer/publisher, I’m sure they are passionate about their game, but for me this doesn’t add value to the board gaming hobby. I still have AQ and I sold all my Zombicide stuff a few years back. I’m fine this way, so this game does not appeal to me.

Add to that Mice and Mystics. The initiative is similar and the distribution of melee/ranged/defense sides on the dice is almost the same ( if you don't count the exploding side)

Ooo...Got to play this at GenCon last year. I really loved the demo for this.

Just wondering if this game is simplistic like MB’s HeroQuest? I’m always looking for a game that reminds me of HQ.

If Zombicide and Descent had a baby, that would be it. They didn't even try to change the part they copied. Nonetheless, I like it, but I couldn't find me a reason to buy it as I have games really similar to it.

This game just ended zombicide's whole career.

I cringe every time I see that hammer come down on miniatures. 😂

This looks incredibly derivative, but I can't really fault CMoN or Panda Cult or whoever else for basically printing money. It's not like you need interesting or innovative rules, just throw a bunch of miniatures in a game and slap $100 price tag on it - evidently it will have no trouble selling. If only I had any talent in the 3D-modeling direction, I'd be quitting my job to do games full of miniatures instead. This seems like basically a re-theme of the same tired cooperative game that CMoN and their ilk have made about 15 spin-offs of at this point.

Jesus this looks like the least innovative boardgame ever designed. At least based on Tom's review.

I hear all the time how CMON games have good minis, but I am not impressed with these miniatures at all. Sure, they are big and goofy looking, and it is this design choice that makes the lack of detail not obvious at first, but to me they look like lumps of plastic with very little detail, especially for the price of the game. I am looking at the miniatures of other kickstarted games, like Mythic Battles: Pantheon which cost the same amount of money and that was 2 years ago - I'm talking about the first campaign - and there is really no comparison at all. Honestly, the best use for these minis might be for a kid to learn miniature painting because they are big and they have many flat surfaces and simple design. The gameplay also seems very mundane and been-there-done-that, but it never seems to be an issue when it comes to CMON games.

This game is not from CMON. He was just using it as a comparison.
@cartoon80s90s5 жыл бұрын
@@oneanotherstudios My bad. Still, the minis are mediocre at best. They would be fine 5-10 years ago, but no one should be happy to spend $90 for this quality in 2019.

Why not setup an actual scenario and show off all the components?? It seems extremely lazy just to throw a bunch of tiles together. Also it doesn't give any idea of what the actual scenarios might look like.

@@ErmacFellwalker I get that, there's a special kind of hell for people who casually throw out spoilers. But, if some people cant handle to see the setup of the first scenario, they really need to readjust their expectations for life.
