@@danielleclair1360No, an animal’s inner hide will change from blue to white as shorter, colder days approach. I’m not a biologist. I do know that it had nothing to do with the squirrel eating berries. I trap coyotes and they can be blue or white hides depending on when I get them during the season.

On the very first episode, it seemed like a no brainer, this guy Roland will win. As many of us solo wilderness people would agree, here is a guy you wish you could have on your team. Alone isn't just a TV show. The world is headed for disaster, literal Armageddon, and bushcraft people will barely notice that anything has changed, while the city people will go crazy, starve and kill each other. I recommend to everyone to learn survival skills for the difficult times coming. Congrats Roland for being such an inspiration for the world. Like you I have such a respect for the old-timers and wish they were more appreciated today. I'm glad to see there is still an old-timer alive today.

I also like that he said “we”. I’m a bit of a lone wolf as well. When you are your only company me becomes we because of the constant inner dialogue that occurs and it’s amazing how much others are part of your internal conversations. When my father passed I had no idea how much he was part of every thought until it hurt to think of him. Then I realized my mind was constantly asking him questions, at least once every 15 minutes, in order to figure things out. But I don’t think it has to be anybody particular when saying “we”. Could just be you and God, and I think it’s a sign of humility to say “we just killed a musk ox.” I think it’s a very interesting thing to discuss even if only discussing it with myself.

@rodneystanger16513 жыл бұрын
Man, c'mon. All these "tough women" do is snare rabbits and basically hold fat much better than men do. They always have easy fishing spots and pretty much just lay around and try not to burn their shelter down, or hurt themselves. And they usually don't even accomplish that. Lemme know when they catch anything bigger than a rabbit.
@dshaw55582 жыл бұрын
@@rodneystanger1651 Why are you so triggered by strong women? You go out of your way to shit on them here. Easy to sit on your couch and call them not tough even though they lasted 80+ days. You don't survive that long by sitting and doing nothing. Did you see all the fish Kielyn caught? Have you sat on a windy lake at -30 or colder for hours to catch fish? Nah didn't think so. You have no clue how difficult that is just by your clueless comment. And Callie did not have an easy fishing spot so there goes that theory on women getting easy fishing spots.

Some viewers commented in the early episodes that they thought you were irritated to be there. My favorite on any of the Alone programs is NO DOUBT: RRRRRRRROOOOOOLLLLLAAAAAND!!! It was so nice to see and hear all the right things being done and said on the show (from the intro I liked him a lot, he was my pick for winning). I bet he laughs at the things he sees people doing and saying on the show, I laugh all the time and palm face at the dumb things they say and do. Roland is a true Bushman/Woodsman with all the knowledge and experience plus the "social nature" needed to succeed out there...(he doesn't "need" other people and has confidence 100%, self esteem 100%) I told my wife at the beginning: "This guy has it down, barring an unpredictable event/catastrophic accident, etc, HE WILL WIN." I was impressed with those gals too, but they weren't 100% and it showed later on as time and cold moved on. Roland was on it and very impressive. Props, Kudos, Honors and Big Congrats to Roland. Oh, hey Brother, invest a nice big chunk of that Million and let it GROW! Time will tell how glad you are that you did, we cannot be out in the bush for too many more decades right?! Better to have enough to live out easily without worry of $$$ in the "old timer years" :)

There are a lot of people here interested in bushcraft but bureaucracy makes it difficult to access the land, and there is a large divide between recreational hunters and bushcrafters. Bear Grylls came here and was apparently caught out for pretending he was in the wild when the local supermarket was only a minute away. You'd blow him out of the water. If you didn't want to be alone so much I reckon you could have your own successful TV show and international survival school 😀

Enjoyed your Q&A session. Glad to see your not spilling all your beans with your new fandom. Keep us hungry for more. Aside from all your guide work, do you see yourself evolving and providing a survival class for those of us that have sick skills but would like to take it to your level mad sick skills? 😉 My question for you sir: After you spent 100 days in the Artic and in Rock house, did you miss it or have any adjustments shortly after leaving? Curious what the transition was for you? You definitely fish Alone!

Just a random idea but you should design, patent, and sell your own knife. I was thinking of this as you had a pretty unique description for what you want in a knife plus you said you grind your own curvature meaning no one is making knifes the way you want them.

Tell me about your crosscut saw. Looks like a 2 man but looks shorter than the 4’ saws. Was it 4’ or did you cut it down to 3’?

Roland, you are an inspiration. I may not meet you in this life, but you better believe i'm gonna shake your hand when we make it to the Lord's kingdom. God bless, brother.
