Because in Europe, to be classified as a chocolate product, it has to be at least 20% cocoa, whereas in the US it's only 10%, the difference tends to be made up with fillers and additives. A slight bit of background, at 12.40 that is Tower Bridge. The original London Bridge from the song was a mediaeval bridge with structures atop which were crumbling, it was replaced by a Victorian Bridge (well technically Georgian, Victoria did not take the throne for 6 more years) which was purchased by an American and moved block by block and after modifications, the facade reassembled upon a concrete frame in Arizona. The current “London Bridge” is a 1970s concrete arch bridge which can support modern traffic which the 1830s bridge could not. The opulent Tower Bridge remains, the main difference being it is now hydraulically opened instead of steam powered.

As a southerner living abroad, I’d recommend Utz’s Crab Chips, a Goo goo cluster and definitely some Little Debbies. I suppose it depends on if you’re going for taste or weirdness :). Reese’s, Poptarts and Oreos are all available here (though they can be quite expensive.)

walkers was a british company for years then frito lay bought the company from us in 1979 i belive because it was so popular in the uk already they kept the name walkers in the uk because was already well established, same company just the name got changed for the rest of the world as before they were bought out they were only sold in the uk. The biggest crisps/ chip factory in the world is in england and they produce over 11 million bags a day the factory is in leicster its crazy

Here are a handful of American snacks I don't think you can regularly obtain in the uk: butterfinger, peanut butter m&ms, oatmeal pies, chex mix or muddy buddies, fritos corn chips and bean dip or queso, BBQ flavored chips, and a real shocker - candy canes (or any minty treats for that matter)
@katyweaver76892 жыл бұрын
Yes this is a good starter list! I'd nominate nutty buddies or oatmeal creme pies from the little Debbie line as being both not in UK but also probably palatable. I do miss butterfinger, but they often don't ship well and we all know stale butterfinger is 😬 I'm not sure if there's really a chip/crisp flavor/flavour from the US that doesn't have an analogue in the UK 🤔 (obv a lot aren't exactly the same) but corn chips are really underrepresented. They have bad Doritos here, but nothing like Fritos. A bag of *crunchy* regular Cheetos is like unobtainium tho, send some of those!

They do have XXX mints in a roll. We love the extra strong mints from Trebors too. They are hard to find in the states. I usually order them from Amazon.
@katyweaver76892 жыл бұрын
@@bieuxyongson I've found most UK mint stuff is spearmint, which is a totally different flavor from the US which is usually peppermint.
@bieuxyongson2 жыл бұрын

GooGoo Clusters or Pecan Pralines (Creamy Louisiana ones or Chewy Texas ones from Lammes), maybe Pangburn's Millionaires turtles. And of course Moon Pies!

We have a British food section in the Publix here and I'm always after the "Digestives" or digestive biscuits, those are what my online gaming buddies in the UK are always munching on after dinner.. I think that might be the sole purpose of cookies over there so that's why they're fiber rich. They also have better regulations on what crap can be added to food as far as bad chemicals and preservatives.
@Beedo_Sookcool Жыл бұрын
They're called "Digestives" because when they were introduced, it was thought the simple ingredients would prevent farting. Could be worse. Graham crackers were invented in the hopes that they'd stop teenage boys . . . getting urges.

How about Buckee’s Beaver Nuggets, a Snickers Almond bar, Lance cream cheese and chives crackers, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and Dott’s original pretzels? That should be a pretty good cross section of American favorites.

Ziggy Stardust is definitely the best Bowie. I lived in London for a couple of years in the mid-80s, & had my grandmother send me some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups & Mtn Dew for Christmas one year. Both were universally reviled by every Brit I shared them with. Too salty, too sweet, respectively. I also developed a keen taste for pickled onions while I was there, but I still wouldn't eat a pickled onion-flavored puff! Next time you're trying to think of a well-known British animal, might I suggest the English Sparrow, a delightfully invasive species you can find in all 48 of the contiguous United States. They're the noisy little brown birds you see everywhere. That's an adorable baby you got yourself there! ✌🏼
