Yes, they can run fast. Very hard to catch in an open area! Spitting is used for communication and defense. Mine mostly spit at each other. It’s unusual for mine to spit at people.

Hello, what minerals do you feed them

I feed them Dumor Sheep Mineral (loose minerals, not a block) from Tractor Supply Co. But a popular mineral supplement for alpacas is Stillwater 104.

@@ButterfieldAlpacaRanch Which extra nutrients do you need to provide them with? In the UK, they need extra copper since they cannot get that from English grass.

It is best to get your hay and pasture tested to know what is lacking for the alpaca. Every region will need to supplement differently.
