ALPAKA Modular Sling Review (2 Weeks of Use)

I bought the alpaka utility pouch when it came out and it's cool to see them make a new model that's had so many improvements

The best Zippers are YKK Japan and RiRi- Switzerland. Most people never heard of RiRi Zipper, because of its price(expensive), but YKK waterproof Zippers are used by most clothing companies. China copies them with different names and it works, but good as YKK. YKK industrial Zipper is used to Bridge Cables in Japan. I do leather work and use both YKK and RiRi. There is Talon, which is a good Zipper.

Tom Bihn solved a problem that a lot of bags have, including this one. The pockets don't have their own volume. On Tom Bihn bags if you put an item in one pocket it doesn't interfere with another pocket. It's kind of amazing more companies haven't realized this. I love this alpaka design but it's a shame that if you load out the main compartment the phone compartment is hindered.

You nailed my complaints on this exactly--I wish the outer phone compartment had a little more depth at bottom. This would solve the magnetic flap not closing. Also fold-flat pockets on the top inside would help.

Oh no, this is a great little sling 🙂 and the pros are many more in my opinion. The materials, pockets, ease and versatility of attachments, I'd tend to agree though, with the interior needing _all_ to be in this orange colour, I really love it. I'm a fairly new Alpaka user and this is my third bag (also have the Zip pouch Max and the Zip Clutch) so yeah, it's all up to us users, right? I mean I can't tuck in a bulky powerbank and expect to have space on the outer pocket to pull in my phone (not referring to this very video) or keys, pens.. We need to be smart haha. But it's a hip product for, hopefully, hip people (sic!) Cheers and thanks for great reviews on your channel!

Are you reviewing the Alpaka Vertical Sling anytime soon? That would be a better bigger upgrade to this Modular Sling, although it has a front zip pocket instead of a magnetic flap.

I ordered version 1 and version 2 i use version one just to carry the phone itself and version 2 if I want to carry more stuff and put phone in large compartment and thinner items like power bank on outside because I’m not looking at phone every second if I want to read a message i just got I’ll ask Siri to read them to me when i have AirPods in i would love it if they added a loop for a key fob on the outside

I own few Alpaka items and aside from good looks most of them are not well thought out. Just like this sling, the bad points are: magnetic flap ability to close is not good at all (very poor for this price tag). Phone is not protected from rain when inside the pocket (there are openings on the side for moisture to get in). Honestly, I've expected more for this price.
