The trains, tracking and sections that were already outdoors all look better now, but the cave was what really made this ride special. It looks fun, but the original looked more exciting.

Das geht gar nicht mehr in die Steingrotte :( Alle Bahnen meiner Kindheit gibt es im Prinzip nicht mehr (Piratenstadt, auch wenn sie echt gut wieder aufgebaut wurde, Diamantenstadt, Eursosat usw.) echt schade

Genau! 😢 Europapark war mein nähesten Freitzeitpark von meinem Zuhause und ich hatte immer Angst als ein Kind von Achterbahnen aber diese Achterbahn konnte ich sehr gut fahren mit meine Familie und sie war meine lieblings Achterbahn! Diese Kristallhöhle war so schön und die Alpen express fühlte sich immer so schnell in die Dunkelheit und die kalte Luft war so toll! Die Achterbahn fühlte sich an wie Spacerunner und Glacial Lightning vom Steinwasen Park! Beide drinnen und da war einmal ein Yeti oder Polarbär in der Mitte haha! Auch von meine Kindheit! 😂 Sehr schade! 😔

Honestly I think it's better this way. It's still basically the same ride. Sure the cave is gone but they kept and re-used everything that was preserved in the fire and the ride still follows the same layout. The train even has a reference to the ride's original name (Grottenblitz) on the front car. Sure it's not exactly like the original ride was, but it's probably for the best. The entire first half of the ride remains pretty much unchanged, even the station hasn't changed at all. Not to mention the original ride was very painful in my experience a couple years ago, so I think the fact it's received improved trains made it better

⁠@@GoudLoodjeit’s not better this way. Same route ok. But it’s not about the route and length, it’s about the location and decoration. It’s a fact that it looks like shit rn. Not remotely like before. Real fans will understand.

@@leonie_sophia7 I get it, I loved the old cave it used to have but I feel like the current version fits the area just a little better. From on ride I do think the cave might’ve been very slightly better but it really is all subjective ofc. Regardless of if the cave is there or not you can’t deny they made some other improvements that changed the ride for the better. I remember the original version just being painful

The old version of Alpenexpress will be missed but in my opinion the new version is better

I actually prefer the old one better. The new one, I don't know, it doesn't seem as thrilling. Riding a roller coaster in the dark feels more thrilling as you can't see the tracks. You never know where the coaster will turn. Plus the colourful environment in the cave looks awesome!
