lucky you are not Stone then. No one is saying Sengun doesn't deserve the max, it's a matter of optimize the timing, rather than amount. For a GM, that's the most important aspect of their role: maximizing the cap (i.e. resources available) to build the best team possible.

think about it, he could be max contract player even he regresses for a year like 15ppg, because he is highly skilled big and that alone bypasses importance of such stats as long as he is more or less consistent. so, what Rockets is doing is downplaying Sengun big time, but we don't know, if they really have a plan for cap room angle, they may as well sweet talk to him about this and keep him happy and make him sign a deal at free agency.
