Alpha: 2014 - Space: 1999 Model Display Room

John Waudby. It already has been, to my knowledge ; it's called" Space: 2099, and they still use the Eagles (among other ships) . Don't know what channel it's on, though.

Even though Im a huge fan of Star Wars, somehow the Eagle is even more iconic to me than the X-wing or Tie fighter for example.

I celebrated the series so much back then. Pure nostalgia. If you watch the show now, it's certainly fun to watch, but it was absolutely cool back then.

In the 70's there was no computer graphic, but Alpha and the eagles look more real then if they were designed with a computer graphic.

Have you watched a SPACE:1999 episode lately ? I mean, back in the 70's it was awesome, but by todays standards, it evokes the cringe reflex. You do know they used wires for the eagles....they had this spray to cover the wires so they weren't so visible....the you watch the eagles fly and you KNOW they are on wires.

Why theres 18 thumbs down on this exhibition video I will never know...... What a visual feast for fans of 99. The shot at 1.26 of the eagle surrounded by lights on the launch pad is just superb...... The eagles really were great ships and I think ahead of their time during filming......think it sort of got me into liking the sound of jet engines and like Knight Rider and Dukes of Hazzard and Rockford Files etc the vehicles were also stars of the shows.....loved it when Alan had to give an eagle full power to get out of a situation 😃 A great collection even down to the desk lamp shades which wouldnt look out of place today in Ikea!

I looked up Space: 1999 bios a few years ago, surprising how many have links to WWII. That jet engine dine screaming really added to some of the crash landing effect. Pinewood has a history of movies and television. Came after Star Trek in 1966 in Los Angeles but still had the computers and spaceships with an 'updated' 1970s look.

Great clip and thanks for uploading. I really liked the show, in particular Year 12 which for me had better costume designs (building on Year 1) which had more colour, like the jackets and I liked the women's slit-skirt and boots uniform and Command Center sets. Certainly spaceship design wise the Eagle Transporter has stood the test of time well as a good looking design, a functional multi-purpose Cargo ship with 'Fighter' capabilities, plus the Moonbase Alpha design and eagle Launchpad Hangars exterior and interiors.

SPACE: 1999 needs to be rebooted...seriously ! I mean, they probably could not call it SPACE:1999 for obvious reasons, but maybe SPACE: 2099.

Technically it can be still called Space:1999. The Space: 1999 universe is different from this universe. In our universe the space program stalled compared to the Space : 1999 universe in which they experienced technological growth. In the Space: 1999 guide I got from Starlog Magazine in 1978 it stated that in 1987 there was a world war and after it the Earth unified. Even before the war the Earth in that universe had the interstellar probe Voyager in 1985. In the Brian the Brain episode a interstellar ship was launched in 1996. The Space: 1999 universe technologically is easily over 100 years ahead of this universe. The new show could continue the Moon's trip through the universe and be set 20 years after the Dorcon incident.

Buhda Punk only for some detail stuff. Eagles were made from brass tube, perspex, wood, and aluminium. Others were mostly Perspex, plastic sheet, kit parts, wood, and aluminium.

I love the first season : great sets, sfx, actors and especially storylines and music but the second season really sucks with those ridiculous rubber suited monsters. Only a few episodes can be saved, most of them are really childish ! but i was much older when i discovered lately that sequel, that certainly explains my doubtf feeling about it's utility... sincerely i would have prefered keep on my first good impression and prefer to forget...

Sometimes, but often people know who has items and can offer to buy them or collectors know who to sell too. Sometimes it might appear on websites or Facebook these days, occasionally even eBay. A huge display of these items was sold off in the 1990s to private collectors which accounts for the bulk of these originals.
