Hey CCW, nice breakdown and I appreciate your opinions as a fellow Alpha Legion player. I do feel like your review highlights units thatr are just really good on their own, and you don't really address how the units that you're selecting fill in some pretty obvious gaps in the capabilities of legion-specific Alpha Legion units or how the units that you've selected can fit in to the strategies of playing an AL list. For example: if you're running AL, you're likely running some Headhunters and you're likely infiltrating/scouting some part of your army as those are among your strengths. How do the units you've selected augment this strategy, or do you have another strategy for your AL list? What about Contekars? They have deepstrike inherently, which seems like a great distraction unit. What about Pheonix Terminators? They can infiltrate with Dynat's ability, and then are a serious roadblock to any assault units heading for your lines, which I frequently struggle with playing AL. Good review, would like to hear some more context for the units you pick besides that they're really good. Thanks!

Hey thanks for watching and your feedback. 100% this is based off a vanilla play style. I'll be doing other videos on play style and strategies. Off the bat though not sure if you seen my Contekar Terminator video but I actually really like them. Heck yeah I'd play them as Alpha Legion. The only thing is that they are focused on Power armor killing. We already have allot of that with Head-hunters, Seekers and our Vets. So personally I look to use them slots for hitting Terminator tier units. That's not to say though they are not worth taking. Great idea for a video actually. In regards to Phenoix Gaurd terminators. Emperors children can be annoying and strong in our lists. Thanks once again for sharing your thoughts.

Great alpha legion content! I’d love to see more; I think mor deythan, deliverers, and the Raven guard terminators are all great choices as well especially for deliverance list themed lists

Great Vid as always. Ok I would put the Raven Guard Deliverers up in the honorable mentions part. AL or not they can take Raven Talons, they have deep strike and if they're loyalists, they get Battle Hardened.

Also possibly the Dark Angels Inner Circle terminators too. Have access to Thunder Hammers for free, have a choice of which Order of the Hekatonystika to join before the start of the battle even if they are AL.

Hydra Dominatus! I just picked up the Age of Darkness box and a big Forge World order to start my first Heresy army. I picked Huscarls as my Rewards unit, due to their durability, and the super fist. Using Alpharius to infiltrate himself , the Huscarls, a Contemptor Dread, and a Leviathan into the enemy's face is just brutal.

I think you really missed the fact that suzerain are not chosen warriors but characters 🙃 Meaning they can spread wounds around Thanks to that, their extreme low cost and high lethality with good number of attacks + being line natively + the ld bonus Imo they are by far the best astartes melee unit They just need a land raider and take half the squad with hammers and maybe an apothecary and your gtg Firedrakes and varagyrs tends to be very pricy quickly imo And varagyr can't score, a vexilla is not a legion standard 😜 I would even argue they don't really need a vexilla as they are not likely to lose a fight and run off the board And the point for using lascanon is the same for all units as they are of the the best generic unit of the game 😛 Thanks for all those deep dives 🙂

It doesnt really matter though, as I stated in the video. You can't spread the wounds around if they are 1 shot doubled out dead from a high strength shot relying on only a 5++, Character or not, What are you going to spread around when they are instant popped? I also did say that in the video about the Vexilla and prob not being required. Um. yeahhh. Thats why I mentioned the las canons, It was the first thing that came up in my mind. Seeing as though they are so common in the game. As you just stated. I feel that synergises wtith my actual point. Thats why 3++ all game is more valuable on an Elite unit then a 4+ in CC and a T shirt save of a 5++ from Range. Like Suzarian have. I like Suzarian as well, they are great but as stated in the video. There are a dozen better units. Thats just my opinion and from the results of the games I have played. @@CommandCentreWargaming and I said in the comments lascanon is the best unit in the game Unless you're battleharned each varagyr killed will. Be a bigger loss compared to killing basic suzerain with axe Imo what matters is the ratio point/effectiveness For around 600pts you get 8 suzerain in a land raider that can also score and will be better to tank medium weapons For around 600 pts of varagyr in land raider you get around /2 wounds compared to the suzerain and no scoring The ability to score is becoming more and more important with the latest core missions

@@CaptainPlunk Yeah and Varagyr, you also get more attacks with brutal also, So you are forcing them to make double the saves. Thunderhammers on Suzarian you will not gain your extra attack in assault for specialist weapon and lose your initiative strikes plus all their other stuff. Plus 50% chance to shrug with Varagyr (All the time). You also have the versatility to switch weapons depending on your foe with Varagyr for dreads etc... So in Alpha Legion we dont use Land raiders for that. We can confer infiltrate and Deepstrike. So Land Raiders when you can take them (Not ZM) are better points spent in other places in the first place. So Lol. Scoring is good yeah but in Alpha Legion there are better ways to work that into the army. Also not all games in HH2 have scoring as a primary factor. Yes its totally about points efficiency. Your dudes cost less. They score. My dudes, Hit harder, Hit More, Have more survivability, Are less predictable, Have more Flexibility. Have more Durability, Also will likely land more of their attacks from unit cohesion spacing (5 man only squad, still more brutal saves to force than Suzaran). Especially in ZM. Thats not even going into their other rules. thats just off the core stats. So point for point they naturally would be more expensive. Anyway Im glad you like playing Suzarian. So do I and Its great that you have had success with them. Suzarin are the strongest unit in the game IF your opponent doesn't know how to deal with them.

​@@CommandCentreWargaming Not really with 8 suzerains you get 4 hammers so 12 hammers attacks + all the axe at init attacks I agree that varagyr are more lethal but they don't have that much more survivability: yes you get a 4++ but you're less numerous so less wounds and no character type so less effective against non ID attacks It really repends what's your aim with those units depending on the reste of you army: if you don't have enough punch go for varaygyr/huscarls, if you have enough HH/lascanons and need a more counter offensive unit suzerrain are better in that role Most of the new core missions have scoring as a primary ojectives plus AL usually play HH spam meaning you have less spots for line units in troops Concerning ZM I don't play this mode, I won't be relevant on this matter Concerning the infiltration, it's only related to special characters and not all events allow them for narrative reasons plus if you play for instance Dynat or Alpahrius, you don't get the master of lies redeployement ability if your opponent seize you

@@CaptainPlunk Your the Same Numbers. Varagyr start with 5 upgradable to 10, suzarian start with 5, Upgradable to 10. A whole 5 man squad of Suzerain with thunderhammers will get 3 base and 1 for the charge. 20 attacks. A 5 man Varagyr will get 21 thunderhammer attacks. Then add An extra 10 Hammer of wrath attacks onto that. RE: infiltration. Its possible to have virtually your whole force Infiltrate. Yes you would need to run a character to grant Infiltrate for both Suzarian and Varagyr but there is no advantage eitherway here for the Suzerain argument. In regards to scoring missions. Pride of the Legion many things can score, Plus Lernaean Terminators can score, Breachers can score. Again, virtually your whole army can score. If you want to waste an elite ROT unit up the back of the Battlefield go for it. When a tac unit can do that and gain bonuses for it. In regards to defence 5++ vs 4++. Its better even if not much better, Key Word. BETTER. In regards to Counter attacking, No. Sorry the Suzarian will lose their extra charge attacks. If charged. Varagyr wont. They have counter attack. So when Suzarins drop down to 15 attacks when charged. Varagyr will keep their additional attacks of 21. Forcing more Brutal instant Death saves. No sorry Alpha Legion are not just a Spam army. Alpha Legion are a Logistical Specialist Army. Varagyre are just better, The Numbers don't lie. Better all across the board. I mean though its a D6 chance based game. So there is allot of variation. But going off the Base stats.
