It's really sad because I've seen men become really focused on getting a girlfriend. Eventually their self-worth becomes dependent on their relationship status. Society then proceeds to shame them if they fail to lose their virginity and meet up to those standards. Since expressing emotion is also looked down upon, they reverse the blame in an attempt to defend themselves. They don't want to take responsibility because then they would be further humiliated by Society for failing to get laid. Like I said, their self worth will eventually become dependent on their partner and, not only that, but if their partner is attractive or not. These types of guys objectify women so much that they're considered an achievement. Something special. Yet they're also not considered humans. A lot of this deprives from deep insecurities that they unknowingly have. I did all my schooling in a boys' schools and colleges and my profession is highly male dominated. One thing I have noticed throughout is it's never the gym bros or atheletes or top graders who calls themselves alpha or whatever , it's always that one overtly shy guy without any hobbies who thinks himself the greatest catch of them all , swipes left on all girls who are not 10/10 and then cries that no one matches him . That was one of the most disappointing realizations as I started to grow up as a male, was when I started to understand that all my friends that I looked up to for being so cool and confident were actually entirely full of shit and secretly way more insecure and fucked up than me. They just spent sooooo much time and effort working to convince their other dude friends how cool and tough they were, despite the fact that they could never get their shit together and couldn’t obtain and maintain a stable relationship to save their lives. They didn’t want friends, they just wanted people to drag down with them and share the load of misery. Glad I finally got away from all of that.

I’d need to fact check, but there were certain practices in Ancient Greece/Rome (like pairing young guys or boys up with older mentors) that I think you were referencing. Plus, generally the point of many bonding activities that immature men indulge in comes from wanting attention/approval from other men. Both sexes obviously have their own version of this kind of behavior. But, think of the guys who like cat-calling in large groups, graphically talking about women when they’re all together, bragging about getting women. It’s usually to impress other men. These are from the top of my head, and someone could refute these loosely-connected ideas. But overall, I think the energy with a lot socially unhealthy, or negatively-“women-focused” men partially comes from so many guys feeling like they can’t be vulnerable with each other. A lot of frustrated men (like podcast bros) of course feel resentful towards women, but they probably want to be close with other men (mostly platonically). Yet, they deflect it onto women, because they likely feel it’s more acceptable to bond with guys over women.

It was ubiquitous in the ancient world. So many cultures did that, warrior cultures like the Samurai and some Buddhists sects even held philosophies about how it's more defiling to sleep with a woman than a man. For most of human history you see men in a totally separate sphere to women, bonded together by war and stuff like that so the bonds they formed were deeper. There are no recording really of anything parallel in female spaces. Plus, w all know gay sex is more pleasurable anyway, the male g spot is up the ass after all lol. Idk what nature or God or whatever was thinking by forcing men and women to need each other for reproduction but that's all men have needed women for. They are incapable of loving them as much as they love other men because they have never seen women as their equals. Look how much homo activity is present in all-male spaces, especially ones where as you say, they bond for male approval and acceptance: sports clubs, the military, boys schools etc. How many men don't cheat DL with other men? That is why I firmly believe men only put up with women for breeding and to use as status symbols because the current era we are living in puts women as the prize. For companionship, intimacy and pleasure men have always and will always seek out other men as the superior option.

Learning about how men have treated women throughout history and seeing how they treat us today is just painful.
