When categorizing, titles that begin with "The" or "A" have that first word moved to the end of the title, preceded by a comma (i.e. "Great Gatsby, The", "Raisin in the Sun, A"). The alternative would be an impenetrable dearth of "A"s and "The"s. To see WotC's take on this, look at the collector numbers of cards that start with those words and look at their neighbors.
@tylerfoster28143 жыл бұрын
The card with the collector number after "The Akroan War" is "Anax, Hardened in the Forge", so WotC does follow common convention.
@josephhawkins79743 жыл бұрын
Definitely. But I also think it's fine for Tomer to have used a few The cards, and also wouldn't have faulted any of the guys for following common convention either. Basically, as long as there are only a few cards per deck that start with The, but otherwise everything fits that theme, I'm fine with both parties having access.

I'm honestly surprised that after the 'fill my entire hand with Shadowborn Apostles and discard them' that Seth did, that Tomer didn't just let rip the Torment of Hailfire to smack literally everyone into the dirt. x=8 forces Crim to literally blow up his entire hand and some of his lands to save his blocker, Richard just got set back so he'll either be forced to sacrifice lands or hand as well to maintain his board (or let his replayed commanders start getting more tax) and Seth will lose some cards and some lands. Neither of them will be in a great position to punish Tomer the following turn, and if you really want he could go x=7 to save the Spire activation.

This is a unique channel for magic, but that uniqueness confuses people. People comment on the plays being made or whether or not Tomer can still play with one stacks piece in play. People are confused of why Tomer gets salty. Well I'll tell you this channels foremost mission is not about winning the game or whether they make good plays. This channel is about showcasing deck and card strategies. When Tomer says he can't play the game he doesn't mean play the game so he can win the game. He means he can't showcase his decks strategy and that is his foremost job on this channel.
@NKMitch423 жыл бұрын
I get all that, there's still a line for too much salt and it creeps past it sometimes. Calling out when it's approaching the line or crossing it because it drags down the fun of watching Clash is more than reasonable.
@ThomasJohnsen23 жыл бұрын
So he gave up turn 4 last episode to showcase the decks? Hardly! Showcasing the decks would have been siding with Crim and Richard against Seth's good start. But he was salty and fizzled the game deliberately. We all enjoy magic here - especially Commander. We want to see the decks perform and the players having fun. When people criticize Tomer on occasion, it is precisely because he tanks games, that might have been interesting. I watch everything Seth on Goldfish - he is excellent. I watch nothing Tomer except this - he never formulates a plan before drawing a card for the turn. He never uses function keys. He consistently takes forever to scry and gets distracted by any conversation. Showcasing decks also means playing at a reasonable pace and playing towards what the deck is trying to do. He should've apologized for the travesty last episode imo. You should read the comments on that one. And viewers took the time to assemble decks for them.

I think Tomer and Crim had the advantage for this one in deck building because of mana. Talisman, temple, commander. Probably forgetting others but I'm probably forgetting some good s and r mana cards too. Also, I was just willing Tomer to play the Torment of Hailfire. So disappointing when he didn't and vindicated when it wheeled. Even if they were left alive they would have very little to fight back against his board. Of course the end probably would have been the same since Seth didn't need anything that would have been affected on the board.

I'm fine either way on the "The" debate. I'd say as long as the person is selective with the letter T and doesn't use too many, it's ok for them to use The cards. I'd also say most of the time something like The Chain Veil is usually just called Chain Veil, and would've been fine in Crim's C deck. Again, just don't overdo it, and keep the theming going pretty well and a few small items like that aren't outside the spirit of the restrictions.
