I think what was easily the most clever part about any of this game was the 'meet the neighbour' part. To be entirely honest, there should have been nothing scary about that, as you had both had positive interactions in the past, and when he enters, he keeps his distance and doesn't attempt to hurt you, but the room actively tricks you into thinking the neighbour is a threat by turning the room red and playing loud noises. The 'sleep' following after wasn't a break from testing, it was testing the subject's fear and paranoia, which are present in sentient beings.
@gardnerlittleton97114 жыл бұрын
Oh my god, great observation. I was ping ponging the reasoning there, could it be the voice creates that setting to induce a violent reaction from the neighbor, or is it scaring the neighbor away? And there's the response in interpreting it as a threat!!! Never thought about it just doing these things to OBSERVE the reaction and study internal state. Meta as hell.

The neighbor is another test subject i think. If you get close to the whole in certain spots you can hear the voice giving it commands as well, im ASSUMING that the red lights and loud noises were made by whoever is running the experiment to make you afraid of your neighbor. Its possible that theyre portrayed as both a chimp and something terrifying to keep you from knowing they're human. So you(or rather the protag) feel more isolated. While still having the "neighbor"

@@jjju3 the noises that played during "neighbour wants to meet you" segment were coming from the speaker on the wall, so it's very possible it was just the voice trying to mess with the protagonist

@@jjju3 This might be true, there was a voice giving it orders, it might be a human turned into a chimp. As your own character have had their body removed somehow we can infer that the researchers or whatever it is can manipulate form and reality where it's possible to do these things. So for the Chimps perspective: Balls comes flying in from the dark hole. Ordered to throw ball with the neighbor. Neighbor is throwing the ball back for awhile. The ball don't come back. Ordered to crawl through the dark hole to meet their neighbor. Crawls through hole: The room is empty but there are no exits... then it turns Red and demonic music plays. If I was that Chimp I'd be scared shitless.
@linkbro43744 жыл бұрын
@@FloatingOer not to mention how this would effect the chimps perception of *us*, if the voice has been giving them similar orders to us, then they'll have gotten "play ball with your neighbor" and then done so, then they would've gotten "go and visit your neighbour" and then there's either an empty demonic room or a barely illuminated figure in a dark room. Not only is this interaction meant to make us afraid of them, it is also meant to make them afraid of us. Completely destroy all chance of working together to escape

This is genius! The monkey part at the end btw? with the scary effects and music? It's very obvious what's happening here. Whoever controls this... Test? This reminds me of the short story "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream" where the last few living humans have their consciousnesses trapped in the sentient computer that brought about the end of the world. And the computer HAAAAAAAAAATTTTEEES humans, so these poor people have to spend eternity being tortured in an artificially intelligent hell - complete with awful hallucinations - that they can never escape. Edit: okay some people have correctly pointed out that all but one of the humans (the protagonist) do escape, via suicide, after multiple attempts and what has potentially been millennia of torture and mutilation. So in addition to being trapped in a sadistic sentient machine with reality warping powers, the protagonist is now ALONE with said sadistic sentient machine. But yeah, my bad

@lrm522834 жыл бұрын
@Jacob Locklear yep I agree
@cloudthief89184 жыл бұрын
@Pixel Storm If you think it's bullshit, you've gotta give reasons why.... Otherwise you're just showing the lack of reasoning that went into your claims. Edit: To set a good example, I'll explain myself first. First of all, people who support Labour just oppose the Conservatives, since they're the only two real options in our two party system. (First past the post always leads to a two-party system, there are plenty of videos on KZbin explaining this) Secondly, Communism is, by nature, egalitarian and there has never been a communist country in the history of the world so saying that communist countries do this or that makes no sense. The definition of communism is a society in which the workers own the means of production. This is contrary to capitalism, in which the means of production are privately owned, meaning that communism and capitalism cannot coexist. Both systems aim to be self sufficient so a single 'communist' country wouldn't manage on its own. The whole, or the majority or the world would have to be communist for it to work. People often conflate Soviet Russia's ideology with communism, when it clearly doesn't match the definition. In the USSR, the workers did not have control over the means of production at any point - there was always a dictatorship or a totalitarian state that controlled everything. The original idea was that they would establish communism by making a few people of the working class into dictators, and because they were previously of the proletariat, they would have the people's best interests in mind and would give the power back to the people (establish communism) once they had total control. This just descended into regular dictatorship. After the Soviet Union collapsed, Western Capitalist countries, like the ones you presumably come from, wanted to keep communist ideas away from the lower classes in society, so they used Russia as an example of communism and what it leads to. They now justify this by saying that the Soviets called themselves communists, but that's as ridiculous as calling North Korea a democracy just because it calls itself that. Besides, there are many other ways to achieve communism, so it's not even right to say that any attempt to install communism will end in disaster, because not all the methods have been tried. People say communism is good in theory but bad in practice.. Capitalism isn't even good in theory. It is based on the very ideas that totalitarianism takes to the extreme. It, by nature, enforces an unnecessary (and harmful) hierarchy, meaning that without poorer people that are dependant on capitalists for their survival and well-being and without capitalists withholding resources from those who need them, capitalism cannot exist. In other words, without unnecessary inequality, capitalism doesn't work and that's why by supporting capitalistic values, you are supporting a more covert form of totalitarianism.

I said this in a another comment but that could be true too. The set up of the room is really reminiscent of a Skinner Box, developed by B.F. Skinner the behavioral psychologist. There were also red (and I think maybe blue) signal lights inside of that box meant to eventually condition for a different response. You’re being operantly conditioned by performing tasks for the reward of the cookie. Maybe you’re neighbor is being conditioned through punishment & receives it when the signal light goes off & it results in a negative behavioral reaction. But I’m probably not right in this at all, just found it rlly interesting too lol.

Somewhere in a room above this one, is somebody trained to drop cookies into pipes when a light turns on above them But eventually they will be too hungry, and they'll eat the cookie Then they will become a cookie
