Figured it was about time I did another classic horror game! This time it's apocalyptic Sci-Fi horror adventure I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream. Originally released 29 years ago in 1995 and based on the book of the same name. For this playthrough I’ve rearranged the UI to allow the gameplay area to be expanded and make the text more visible (normally the UI takes up over a third of the screen). Hope you enjoy! :)

Fun fact: Harlan Ellison wrote his book cause he was afraid of what the a.i. could do in the future, in the 90s, cyberdreams worked with Harlan himself to write the plot of the game, Harlan even did the voice of AM himself, having so much fun with the team in the development of the game, reconciling like so with the computers and the technology he was afraid of, the true happy ending of the game :3

A funny fun fact (or unfunny depending on who you ask) is that literally all the content of the preview trailer for this game was removed or slightly altered from the game’s final release. In Gorrister’s scenario the meat locker is filled with only human bodies while in the final game both Glynis and Edna are alive while the corpses are replaced with actual beef. One of the puppies in the cages powering the blimp once had fully animated portrait the player could interact with, and the puppy would even smile and wag its tail at Gorrister. Given that electrocuting them is mandatory to progress in Gorrister’s scenario I imagine it’d be safer to leave the aftermath to the player’s imaginations. A reference in the final game to some cut content of the trailer can be found in Benny’s scenario, where in that one living quarter with no NPCs if you have Benny look at the empty cradle he suddenly complains about being hungry, which seems like random thing to say, unless you’re aware that Benny is actually thinking about “baby food”.
@AlphaBetaGamerАй бұрын
Yeah, it's a shame. Seems like there was a lot of content that was cut due to time restraints and censorship. I guess it's too late to get a director's cut, but would have been nice!

I think there's a old version of the Bible when Moses (I think? I think this was in the book of Exodus) asks God his name and God says "I AM" as in he is everything and everywhere. We're doing this now? This is among the most unsettling games I've seen. The title alone is a creepy enough thought, and it was the end of the short this was based on, and a form of game over for this. AM is pretty scary for what he is capable of, but even worse for what he wants to do. And he's also a little funny, especially when he mocks Nimdok. I think he can be seen as a combination of Disney's Hades and Tobin Bell's Jigsaw, but in the "body" of a reality warping robot. Harlan is a surprisingly good actor for also being the writer, and fun fact, he's even more deranged in the radio version. I like to imagine AM put a victim of SA in with a war criminal because he likes variety in his torment.
