Yes, that's a crack in the Mayor's masterplan i must say. Have at least two guys fish on rotation and BOOM infinite money glitch. Allergy to fish isn't common but not so rare that you won't be able to find anyone else. Pay them or blackmail them, doesn't matter.

Based on the document and the rubberband monologue, i believe the fish have "nanoplastics". All the garbage in the water too. It would be why the "scales" looked synthetic. I think the son was immune, his bodily fluids used to purify the seawater and create a greenhouse free of the curse. The herring are grown in the greenhouse.

I'm not too sure if I'm correct but here we go: > Fisherman curse is basically an illness that cause consuming fish to be addictive and cause scales to grow under skin > The cause is unnamed particle produced by human body through weird immune system reaction. > Meet our protag the fisherman, our child is kidnapped by the mayor > Protag child is picked because of protag allergy (my speculation) > We allergic to fish except herring (I'm still not sure why herring is special) > Long story short we cause a rebellion against the mayor > The ending showed protag child is being used as part of the factory to make the water filled with addictive particle > The water makes consuming the fish cause fisherman's curse. > Basically mayor plan was to kidnap protag child, used it as factory to create addictive fish, blackmailed the protag to become a fisherman and sold the fish with high price, we were never suspected foul play by the villager because of our allergy. > Secret ending showed hanging man, probably the protag because of guilt infecting everyone with the curse or by seeing the son condition. Honestly I'm not sure about the hanging man if it's the protag or the researcher who wrote the paper. But the secret ending showed the police raid the manor after the rebellion and storywise I think it's more fitting for the hanging man to be the protag.

The plan that the fisherman hatches during the second half of this playthrough, considering everything we learn leading up to the events of this game I would've started hatching something like that sooner. I see no reason to trust the mayor or any promises or arrangements he makes, and quite frankly would've thrown him under the bus at the earliest possible opportunity.

Whoa..... The secret ending was so depressing :(.Also, the ice cream truck song playing in the background with the fisherman's hanging body made it more disturbing and morose. All the fisherman's efforts were for naught. I had a hunch that the game would have a sad ending, but it still sucks as to what happened to the son and his father. The overall story was great and I was too happy that the mayor got what he deserved. Thank you for sharing and awesome game play as always, ABG :D! P.S.-The character portraits remind me of the ones from Andy's Apple Farm and Rabbit Knight. I wonder if the creator got inspiration from those games?

Great game! What I understand is that the fisherman's son had some kind of gene that made fish addictive, or that he had a gene that was affected by stange particles in the fish (perhaps some nanoplastic like one comment suggested?). Seeing this, the mayor kidnapped him to spefically breed these addictive fish. It would explain why we see the mayor with a bucket late at night. Either he's planting the fish or removing other non-addictive fish. Another thing I'd like to note is the gunshot in the vault. We see the mayor's corpse is holding a gun, and the bullet position is too exact to seem like an accident. Not to mention, it seems like none of the townsfolk use guns. This means the mayor probably deliberately killed the son, or his "cash cow", before he died to make sure no one else could discover and profit the same way he did (not out of good will of course, he was just a greedy man). Note: Still not 100% if this is the plot as I have a spotty memory in general lol but it's what I could gather. I am still confused about the son's purpose so the whole gene thing is a guess more than anything. Also, the mayor was scooping up water (once I went and looked back), which I'm not completely sure what implies, but I suppose that's what he puts in the seawater tank? The addictive fish might be a byproduct from all the waste in the ocean? Perhaps the kid was immune and the greenhouse was the secret oasis free of addictive fish the mayor kept all to himself? Perhaps he simple killed the kid out of spite because he realized the fisherman betrayed him? Like I said, still unsure but amazing game all around.

Basically the protag's colleague (friend?) was studying what was going on with the fish in the town, finding out its addictive capabilities and warned the mayor about it, thinking he'll do something good about it. Instead the mayor locked him in a cell, somehow connected to a machine to keep him immobile, but still alive (thus the brain the protag communicatesin dreams with is that man). A deal is struck between the mayor and protag - pay a million from fish selling and get the man back. For a mayor that was a way to make a quick buck out of addicts, for the protag - get his buddy back. In the end when he sends everyone to attack the mayor - he shoots through the wall, killing the man, so protag won't get him alive, and died from the addicts. Protag finds his friend dead and hangs himself. Police finds their bodies after

that fish scale scene made me EXTREMLY uncofortable, I think theres a reason lovecraftian monsters tend to take such a deep inspiration from sea life, i cant think of anything more disturbing or disgusting than having a layer of fish scales underneath your skin, it disturbs me to no end just writing and thinking about it, i thought at first that the mayor used the gun to kill himself, and maybe he didnt have just one bullet, but i would find it more fitting if he shot the kid before getting murdered, we did only hear than one gunshot after all, im surprised this idea took the protag so long to create, and that he didnt join the mob so he could theoretically save his son, but then again if horror protagonists were smart we wouldnt have a horror game now would we? im guessing since the scales were something they all knew they had, and common knowledge that didnt seem weird even to the newcomer, it also has that love-craftian ascension vibe, maybe they want to become fish people? idk maybe its just like how crack heads have no teeth, a side effect theyre willing to live with for the overwhelming euphoria of... fish
