Maybe some time in the future, it seems way too expensive for me currently. I know some guys that play it, and watching them play made me realize how similar it is to Hearthstone (which I play). Of course, it's more complex and you need to ramp lands, but other than that many concepts are similar such as card and board advantage, deck archetypes, and some keywords are also similar.

Jar Phanther the problem is that I'm in Brazil, packs are more expensive and we don't have much support from WotC. I don't even think we have friday night magic and such. On top of this, the nearest card store is at best half a hour from here (depending on traffic haha).

I love my German revised cards. I have a black border serendib efreet, which has the real artwork rather than the actual revised art. Birds of Paradise, Shivan Dragon. Of course the duals are out of the question with their prices, but I just like the "big" cards of that day and age.

Seeing this collection more so then yesterday from a card shop perspective I'd do 12grand max. Yes there's power and duals. But in order to make anything on this it has to be low. The guy selling wants a lot for some very played cards. Basically everything is moderate played in this collection and some of the things that really shine in it are heavy played. Those boxes are just fluff to try and distract and show the collection is better then what it is. Rudy can't wait to see the finale tomorrow keep up the good work you definitely know your stuff.

IT's very hard for people to value their cards low (aside from P9, duals, fetchlands, etc...) but the problem is that every card that is basically $20 and under in sell value the stores or in this case Rudy would only be able to pay 25% of that value to buy it. That's the reality, the only cards where the buyers (stores) will pay more than 25% of the sell value is for P9, duals, fetchlands and other cards that are usually worth over $20-$50 and are easy to sell. So if a player values his collection at $5,000 in sell value, but all of his cards are $20 or under then he will probably be offered $1,000-$1,500 max for all those cards, even if he adds the sell value from Ebay and they should be $5,000. That's the reality of doing business unfortunately, so when Rudy says Mox Ruby would be worth a couple of G's if it was in NM condition but he can only offer about $500 for it that's the reality of having a card that's played not NM and that collectors wouldn't buy it, only other players and they always look for a deal. The best case in this situation would be to sell the almost NM cards to Rudy for a good price, and sell the other played P9 and cards by yourself on Ebay. As for the bulk pricy rares and signed cards those would either have to be sold on Ebay individually or to private collectors. Stores will devalue the cards because of the signature so that's a bad idea as well. If you don't have time to sell everything on Ebay or privately to players then you're going to have to accept on losing 60% of your cards' value when you sell them to a store since they have to do all the work after to get rid of them so they have to pay the lowest possible price for each card to make it worth their while.

Yeah I really don't like that Rudy says he will go 10 or 20% above the buy prices for other places then seems to be giving exactly the same or a lowball offer. He has card stores he could move this collection through without worrying about ebay scams, ebay fees, paypal fees, etc.

Well, Rudy's not running a charity. Honestly I've never heard him say that he'll pay above buy list prices, but he does say over and over that he wouldn't mind paying the premium for gem mint cards, and so that's what I've always taken it to mean. I totally sympathize with the condition of these cards not being what the seller states. I would guess about 25% or more of my orders from TCGPlayer are totally not the condition they say they are and I have to ask for a replacement or a refund. So when he goes over the condition and knocks on the cards, I'm sitting here nodding my head because I've dealt with the false condition problem. I get what he's doing because I've been there. But besides that, what's really useful here is all the information he puts out there. We're getting a window into a world we don't normally see. And I think it's easy to forget that Rudy isn't our best bud, he's a businessman. Even though everybody wants to be his friend. I've never seen him be totally dishonest about something. Everybody makes mistakes, but I don't think Rudy is ever dishonest. He has a lot of incentive to tell the truth (Patreon and KZbin).

Buylist is for NM cards, not played ones. Power and other Reserve List cards are EXTREMELY condition dependent, as collectors more than players are the primary source of demand.

The owner of this collection surely knows what it's worth at retail value and what they could realistically get for it selling to someone like Rudy. We don't know what the total retail value would be, just that the owner asked for 51k. It's too bad for the owner that there's a ton of signed cards in there...hopefully this can be a lesson to others.

So I've always wondered if a player is looking to use a card vs the collecters value:. Would dealers trade their lesser quility versions of a card for the more mint version from a player? If this is the case I'm assuming that there would be something to make up part of the value right?
