Set down the grooming tools until you see this video. In this video men's style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, and Pete & Pedro says that there are super terrible grooming tips shared online, from the bros, and sometime even the hos! Today, he's punching them in the throat.
Dump These Dreadful Grooming Practices
1. Washing more because you are experiencing acne -- actually only wash morning and night.
2. Not moisturizing because you have oily skin - every face needs to be moisturized. There's a difference between oil and moisture.
3. Thinking safety razors give worse burns than cartridge razors - actually this is further from the truth! The single blade shave reduces friction and burns as well as ingrown hairs, razor burns, and bumps.
4. Shaving against the grain - a red irritated bumpy face will result!
5. Asking for your girlfriend or wife to shave your back - not sexy!
6. Using your wife's skincare products even though you're a dude - regardless of the quality, mens and womens skin is different so the product needs to be specifically created for men.
7. Assuming there is no difference between bar soap and face wash - bar soap is abrasive and will strip the moisture out of your facial skin.
8. Believing that shaving is a great way to make the hair grow thicker - it doesn't work that way. You have what you have.
9. Shaving your eyebrows or unibrow - pluck instead
10. Needing a big, thick lather for a close shave - it will create less contact resulting in a less smooth, less close, and less amazing shave.
baKblade 1.0 to 2.0
The new edition is launched and better than ever. It's ergonomically correct and even more comfortable. The baKblade is the best solution for back and shoulder hair. You can use it on your chest too. You can use it in the shower or dry. Cool accessories are available such as the jacket that acts as a sponge for pre-shave or shower gel.

@@fobbitoperator3620 Respectfully I mist also rebut your comment and say that your assertion is total bullshit. A double edge safety razor only has one blade but you can position the blade closer to the skin which gets you a closer shave. The only downside to a safety razor is that it _will_ take more time and require more technique than a cartridge razor. If you have anything to say to the contrary, I would say that you are simply biased and full of shit unless you have used a DE razor correctly and for ~ a month to develop proper technique. Respectfully, someone who uses a straight razor.

Just placed my first order of Tiege Hanley, cant wait man, I'm super excited. I've been hesitant because I live in Canada so it's a bit pricy here, but honestly it's no worse than the alternatives and the reviews are all incredible. Plus! I love the idea of supporting alpha in a physical way. You've pushed me through so much man, I really hope you understand how serious people are when they tell you that you've changed their life. You're doing a truly amazing thing here bro, never stop.

You should do a video on epson salts. I had some bad skin on my face and body and began doing two baths a day with epson salts and while also relaxing/good for a post workout, I noticed within like 2-6 weeks I completely stopped producing new pimples, all my old ones died and now I'm totally clean. It even got rid of a lot of the scars of old pimples.

I've been shaving against the grain since I started shaving and I barely have any problems. My skin is baby smooth the first day, sometimes even the first two days, and once I get stubble after 4-5 days I'll shave again if I must. I do however tend to get razor burn if I shave after 2-3 days, which is why I don't really do it. Oftentimes I'll not shave for a whole week if I don't really have any semi-important appointments, where I want to look nice and clean. I probably look like a homeless person by the end of that week, but my skin doesn't get irritated, so it works for me.

Some great advice here Alpha - though I do far into the camp where I have to shave against the grain because if I don't, I have 5 o'clock shadow by 10am. My advice for anyone in the same situation would be to shave with the grain first and get the hair as short as possible, before going against it. Yes, it means technically shaving twice each morning but using a proper shaving brush and safety razor makes it super quick.

Alpha one correction, look up the "Three pass shave" first with the grain, cross grain, then against the grain. This is called gradual beard reduction. This is how they perform a shave when you get a strait razor shave. With the proper prep, technique and not using canned goo, you will not have ANY irritation.

Something important to note is that everyone has different grains you need to learn. For instance my neck hair and the sides of my chin grow in diagonally. So if you’re getting cuts or burns in certain areas when you think you’re going with the grain then pay attention which direction the hair grows in that spot.

Love your video! But you got one thing wrong about shaving with a dubbele edge safty razor, for a close shave you have to go against the grain, unless your skin is to sensetive you have to settle for a second pass. Also use a shaving brush and make your lather from shavingcream or soap, never strait out a can!!! Wachthout what kind of DE razor you buy!!!

You're right on most things. For the shaving part, you can shave against the grain. It's even a must to get a baby smooth result! It's all about the right preparation, products and the right tool. Last but not least, take your time for a good shave. Your razor has to be laser sharp! Problem is that people put too much pressure on it with a relative dull knife. The knife must do the work, just like a good chefs knife. You have to build it up, first round with the grain and second or third against the grain. Also make your own lather and apply it with a brush. Not too thick. I use the hard shaving soap in the green cup from Proraso and lather it up in a seperate bowl with a pig hair brush. Recently shaving with a safety razor after ditching the cassette razor. Planning to make a step to a straight razor since I am also sharpening my own kitchen knives. Lookup Geofatboy on here. I will correct you on something. If you do a proper three pass shave with a safety razor your going to get a better shave than any cartridge razor. All shave quality is always compared to the best shave which is at a barber with a straight razor and other than straight razor shaving, a safety is the next best thing.

Ehm, I disagree with the "don't shave against the grain" point. You might as well not shave at all if you don't shave against the grain. That will give the the closest shave. Here's what I've found works best with a safety razor: -Hot shower -Let brush sit in water to soften the bristles -Get a thick, rich lather with shaving soap -Pull the skin and shave WITH the grain -Rinse blade frequently -Lather face again -Shave AGAINST the grain, using little to no pressure -Rinse face off, apply aftershave and styptic pencil if needed -Change blade every 2-3 days I think what you mean is don't shave against the grain without shaving with the grain first.

I find doing a second, and possible third, pass across the grain is easier on my skin. I find that I get horrendous razor burn, even with new blades. It isn't as close as shaving against the grain, but it is perfectly fine for a day to day shave.

Yo Alpha, I'm currently dealing with break up issues and I have to admitt that I have a very hard time figuring out how to escape this situation. I completely messed up with my girl and she legitimately dropped me. Fact is, we have the same friends and we are in the same university which makes it kind hard for me to move on as you may guess. She was the love of my life but unfortunnately that's completely over. So, As you never talked about this, what would you think about sharing some of your advices in a video. Thank you for reading me and keep up the good work, your content is amazing. Jules from France, Paris

100% agree on moisturizing an oily/dry face. If your face falls apart during winter and it's snowing from your eyebrows: GET MOISTURIZER CREME! Do it every day and the problems will be gone within a week!

I disagree with the "shaving against the grain" aspect. Working where I do, I must be clean shaven, and I cannot achieve this by only shaving with the grain, with a safety razor. Shaving against the grain is doable without irritation, so long as you remember to do this as your third and final pass, with the first being with, and the second being across the grain. Proper preparation of the face is also important in avoiding razor burn and other unpleasant experiences.

Most guys who do traditional wet shaving with a safety razor actually do shave against the grain. For the closest shave most guys shave with the grain, then across the grain and finally against the grain. I typically shave with the grain and then against the grain. I have never had any issues with that and I do have thick facial hair.

less good of a shave with a safety razor? WHAT? First time i used one, it was the closest shave i've ever had! it takes some more time, but it's so much better for the hard spots! also, first shave with the grain, second and closer shave against the grain. Watch every safety razor guide here on youtube and they will always do a second shave against the grain! christ, and the latter thing is just wrong, you need a decent latter to keep the water between the latter and your skin, this way the pores and hair follicles stay open, thats why you don't shave over parts where there is no soap. this skin will dry, close the pores and if you go back over it you scrape the skin instead of sliding over it and thus have irritation! Granted you don't need to apply it like whipcream on icecream but the general rule shoul be "when you see the collor of the skin, it should be thicker."

A lot of people make multiple passes. Lather, shave with grain, re-lather, shave across grain, and if you're brave, lather again and shave against the grain. Always shave with the grain on the first go around and follow with that aforementioned order. Shaving against the grain gives the closest shave, but if you don't knock it _way_ down first, you're going to snag, cut your skin, irritate your skin and follicles, and risk ingrown hairs. A real good, close shave can't be rushed.

If you got oily skin you shouldn't moisturize with an OIL moisturizer... I wrote an article about it for a video later on. There is a difference between saying you shouldn't moisturize or you shouldn't use a oily moisturizer... oh and by the way... Tiege hanley will be in that video! Just saying. It will be up somewhere next week.

That's not that hard really... if your skin is greasy and it shines you are having greasy skin. If that happens a lot you either have a greasy skin by nature or the products you are using are putting a greasy layer on your skin. Grease is no good! Moisturizing is!
