I bought one of these in .177 just before they stopped making them. It’s my absolute favourite, so accurate, every time. The only change I made was to ditch the supplied over complicated 10 shot magazine and replaced it with the newer 14 shot .177 magazine. With the newer style magazine, it’s a superb bit of kit! I’ll never sell it! Great video!

Nice review, thank you. I’m currently deciding between this and the Revere as my next rifle. I think I’m swinging more towards this bolt action version.
@airgunextra4 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much. I have to admit that I am a bit of a sucker for a bolt action. It seems like airgun fashion has done almost a complete 180. It used to be that just about every rifle was a bolt action with the odd side lever. Now it seems the other way around and bolt actions are a rarity. I have a couple of Huntsman Regals - a 12 ft. lbs. .177 and a 30 ft. lbs. FAC .22. The bolt action is lovely and clunky on both of them, if a little stiffer on the FAC because the heavier gauge springs I guess. I can see why Daystate went down the side lever route as it sells a lot of rifles in markets that allow high power rifles and the mechanical benefits of a side lever make them much easier to cock. I've got a 50 ft. lbs. Brocock Sniper XR Magnum and the side lever on that is as easy to operate as it is on a 12 ft. lbs. rifle. I'm sure that whichever way you go, you'll be pleased with your rifle. Just one thing to consider with the Revere, and I forgot to mention this on the review, is that the magazine sits fractionally higher than the older style magazine. However, to be honest, I used the same mounts from my Regal on the Revere test with no issues. Thanks for watching...

@@airgunextra I’ve got the mk4 daystate in .177. The build quality on all the daystate rifles just seem to be a cut above for me. I know it’s personal choice but how would you rate the regal against something like the r10th .177 Value your opinion as your reviews are always very good. Many thanks Richard. Keith.
@airgunextra3 жыл бұрын
@@suttladsutton1623 Hi Keith. The mk 4 is a beauty. I'm fortunate to have both a mk 2 R10 and a Huntsman Regal - two of my favourite rifles. I'd have to give the quality of the engineering on the bolt to the R10 by a hair. I also like the fact that it is sprung so will always flick to the down position. I've had an occasional issue with the bolt on my Huntsman Regal lifting up on my jacket when slung for example. The bolt doesn't open, it just lifts to the up position you would put it in before pulling it back. Both rifles have fantastic stocks - two of the most handsome around. And of course, the R10 has a larger shot count due it being a bottle rifle rather than a cylinder like the Huntsman Regal, although I still get a good 100+ from the Daystate. Both are blisteringly accurate though - nothing to choose between them on that front. I hope that helps...

Hi, I have a huntsman regal and although it came back to yourselves for sorting out for a drop in pressure whilst in my gun cupboard it still looses presure. Have you got any idea to the cause. Hi Raymond. As I wrote before, I think you are confusing Alpha Militaria with someone else. We don't service or sell air rifles. We write about them and record videos. If you're rifles loses air pressure, it has a leak - simple as that I'm afraid. If I was you, I'd send it back to whoever you did send it to for its service and take things up with them. Good luck.

Hi great review is this the h.r (huma reg) version??
@airgunextra3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew. Thanks very much and yes, it is Huma regulated.
@agbcrartsora69182 жыл бұрын
Hello again sir, might I ask you something? When I bought my Huntsman regal Huma 40 ft/ibs I checked the serial number. It was made in 2018. So it’s been 4 years without any use of this gun. Now, Richard my question is if you think the huma reg on my rifle can have problems regarding velocity/consistency? Too much time unused. Since it has a reg I know regs are complex and need to be used regularly. What’s your opinion? Do you think I should send the rifle to my dealer here in Spain for inspection? The rifle apparently shots just fine but I haven’t chron it. Maybe huma regs have no issues if not used for too long, not sure! Any help?
@airgunextra2 жыл бұрын
Hi. So, if I understand correctly, you bought the rifle 'new' from a gun shop but discovered it had been hanging around, presumably on the gun shop shelf since 2018? If that's the case, then yes I'd suggest either chronographing it yourself to ensure it is at power and is consistent, or taking it back to the shop and asking them to do that for you on the basis they have sold you a four year old rifle. Huma regs are extremely good and not being used for extended periods of time shouldn't necessarily be an issue. However, and this is true on any PCP, leaving them unused for a long period could (but not always) result in degradation of the seals. My advice would be to let your gun shop know that you are aware they sold you a four year old rifle (not a new one), ask them to chrono it and address any under-performance. Good luck.

Hello sir, has this rifle 2 holes for filling it? I mean I got one and to fill it up I can see 2 optional holes. Silly question but if you could confirm me if your regal hr has 2 of these filling holes? Thank you again, I dont think mine has a factory issue?
@airgunextra2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Not a silly question at all. There is in fact one hole that goes all the way through the cylinder. When you rotate the cap to access the hole you only see one end of it. You can insert the fill probe into the hole from either end. Your rifle should have a disc on the side that will tell you what the optimum fill pressure is for your particular rifle. I hope that helps.

Could I get your advice? I’m getting on my licence a FAC Huntsman Regal XL HR in .22 and was looking for the 40 ft/ibs. Is any good? If someone own one in that power let me know
@airgunextra3 жыл бұрын
Hi. I have a .22 Huntsman Regal HR and like its siblings, its a wonderful rifle. Mine is 30 ft/lbs. The only 'issue' is shot count. I can get around 25 shots from a fill, which is fine for hunting, although I take a 1.5 litre air bottle with me in case I have to do some emergency re-zeroing. I'd imagine the 40 ft/lbs rated rifle will have even fewer shots. The other thing to think about is ammunition. A that power level, a 16 grain pellet will be traveling close to 1,100 fps which is too fast and lead to instability/accuracy problems. So you'll have to use heavier pellets. 18 grain is still 1000 fps, so you'd probably need 23 / 24 gn pellets for around 900 fps. The issue there is that the choice of .22 pellets at that weight is not very big. Slugs of course are an option, but can be difficult to set up on a Huntsman Regal. Have you considered 30 ft/lbs? At that power you be able to achieve 900 fps with a 16 grain pellet which seems to be a weight/velocity sweet spot. As well as my Huntsman Regal, I have a .22 30 ft/lbs Wolverine R - both are absolute lasers out to 60 metres. Zeroed at 30 metres, I hunt with them out to 55 metres very successfully. I have a .22 FX Impact mk 2 which is tuned to 46 ft/lbs and I can only shoot slugs through it, and that after a whole lot of fiddling around. If you're in the Berkshire area and would like to try a 30 ft/lbs rifle, please let me know. Good luck.
@agbcrartsora69183 жыл бұрын
Right. The gunshop only offers this rifle at 40 ft/ibs. Rest options are out of stock. So I can only get the 40 ft/ibs option. Is possible to reduce the power to 30 ft/ibs? Maybe my daystate dealer could do that?
@airgunextra3 жыл бұрын
@@agbcrartsora6918 I'd imagine they could. Although I notice DAI Leisure have availability and offer a delivery service: www.daileisure.co.uk/daystate-hr-huntsman-regal-fac. The Countryman store in Derby has an FAC Huntsman Revere showing as in stock: www.thecountryman.com/dhvr2230-huntsman-revere-22-fac To be honest, you might find the side lever Revere a better bet than the bolt action Regal. The heavier action means the bolt needs quite a firm hand, whereas the side lever is silky smooth. Decisions, decisions. Good luck!
