Splatoon 3 is STILL WEIRD In Other Languages

A couple of months ago, I played Splatoon 3 in other languages, seeing what weapons, specials, stages and characters were called in other languages and trying to pronounce them with having little to no knowledge of the languages. This time we’ll be looking at a couple more European languages as well as some Asian Languages such as Japanese. I also army friends ‪@saypil‬ and ‪@aSquidMin‬ join me later in the video to help me better pronounce certain words in those languages. What language do you play Splatoon 3 in? Fun fact! "Liquider" in French was a real term used by gangsters to refer to killing someone (maybe not so fun after all). Also, "Club Ca$halot" uses a dollar sign because the name refers to the expensive nature of the pool you're fighting in, as it's for rich jellyfish to swim in

I actually prefer a lot of the JP names over the EN names. I use "Overflosher", "Line Marker", "Hop Sonar", "Sharp Marker "(nicknamed Sharpie), Bold Marker.. and in S2 I called Shellendorf Institute "Devon Museum"

In French,Mahi-Mahi's name is a pun between "Cashalot" (whale basically) And "Cash à l'eau" (Wasting money in water) and the dollar sign is just for the pun

If you combine Callie and Marie’s French names into “ayoly”, I believe it means something or sounds like another word. I can’t remember though. Also, Li’l Judd’s Japanese name is “Co-Judge-kun”

Yep "Ayoly sound like "Aïoli" which is a sauce that's used with fish and seafood ! The name is also a combination of the two main ingredient : Garlic ("Aïl") and Oil ("Huile" which, in the southern provence of france, is said "òli" short for olive oil) So, Callie = Garlic and Marie = Oil and together they make the perfect sauce ! Which strangely makes sense... 🤔

Some more things from Japanese splatoon 3, the pools in splatoon 3 are called “channels” i have no idea why its called a pool in English i think its a pun on the fact that a lot of people are in it lol. Next, “splatted” in Japanese has nothing to do with ink or splats, it’s literally just やられた　which translates to “they got me” so when you get splatted it says the weapon, sub, etc that you died to then it says de yarareta,which means (xxweaponxxx they got me) meaning “i was gotten by: (weapon) and finally, just like Korean, big swig in Japanese is also “wide roller”ワイドローラー i could go on, but this comment is already an essay. I love how he didn't even try to pronounce "Giudigattino" and just called him Judd. Also, "spara-[thing]" means "[thing]-shooter", so Sparalinee is a Line Shooter instead of a Line Marker.

I vividly remember hearing some aspects in Japanese. Bankara Street for Splatsville, Shio Collars for Squid Sisters, of course NZAP85, territorial battle territorial battle its just so serious with it i love also exclamations like Ready-GO or WIPEOUT!!! aren’t necessarily translated, i still have yet to know why, but it makes sense because like its an icon a logo its like translating Motorola or 8-bit you wouldn’t need to

(This is just complaining btw) Why, Nintendo? Why’s portuguese not an option in this game?! Literally the only game I’ve played on the switch that was developed by Nintendo and has Portuguese as a language option is Mario kart 8. And they don’t even have Potuguese-BR (Brazilian). I have read portugal Portuguese!(wich has quite a lot of differences that can sound weird to BR speakers like me, rather than just the accent changing).

I am using the traditional Chinese version of the game and oh boi the translation is often too dumb that I literally use the terms in the English version for communication with my other Chinese friends instead. Ah not to mention I am a Cantonese speakerand Cantonese is one of the hardest language to learn... Looking forward to seeing you try out the Chinese version!
