I disagree violently. Keanu Reeves and to a lesser extent Winona Rider where absolute garbage in this film, almost to the point of ruining the whole movie. Stand outs where of course Gary Oldman and Anthony Hopkins, but Tom Waits and Sadie Frost where also very memorable. Without a doubt Keanu Reeves is just awful, he's a terrible actor who now can only do films that simulate mass murder.

@@jeanandre6998 - The gold plated -gown-like costume Dracula wears towards the end when he's an old man returning to his home land. It's what he's still wearing at the very end, I believe. Look up Gustav Klimt's work "The Kiss" and many other of his artworks to see the influence.

the dragon armor really worked for gary oldman because even though it constricted him, it forced him to lumber around like a large, brooding animal. it added to his character

I love it. His constrictive armer could not constrict of the pain he felt. When he jumped up the altar to stab the cross, you could see anger, rage and power. Probably that costume was annoying and it was greet when Oldman said screw this I am gonna do what I am gonna do.

Now I understand why the actors (gary and sadie) muved as lizards. Yureis (japanese ghosts) are usually portrayed this way. She endeed gave a tremendous contribution to the film. All an artist.

I lover her unusual take on design...where she blended a rather traditional design and juxtaposed it with out-of-this world production. It's not through and through avant garde....but when you look at it, you still can see some traditional silhouette and scent of it..but given a total editorial interpretation

@Lifestyle Benefits of Virginia Yup, it's something that happens a LOT to me. When I was younger I saw a small wooden box in the window of a shop that was closed for lunch, I made a mental note to go back , walked three feet and found the same box sitting on the sidewalk with it's removable lid on it, not thrown, not damaged, perfect. I didn't pick it up at once, tried to get my head around it, the 'other' box was there in the window, identical. I eventually took it home and since then never forgot. Another day, no money, down in life, hungry I was out walking, had a pang of hunger stopped to grab my gut and breath, looked down and I was standing of 30 euros, right at that spot! I have a few of these weird stories.

I've been luck enough to have visited The Frances Ford Coppola's Nappa Valley winery where there is a museum there with costumes and artefacts from his movies. There were the Oscars for The Godfather and the original desk, an old car - I'm not sure which movie it came from, Sophie Coppela's Mari Antoinette ship. The most amazing costumes were from Dracula, Gary Oldman's war armour from the beginning of the movie, Lucy's wedding dress, photo's and many more items - well worth the visit.

I love the contrast of costumes between West and East. I always imagined Dracula being more from the Eastern part of the world like the real Dracula. It gives him a foreign otherworldly presence that I would have imagined in the Bram Stoker book.

The sets, cinematography, and direction was a genius juxtaposition to the wonderful costumes and passionate/colorful dialogue and amazing score .
