Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic: A Not So Obvious Watch Critique

Your excellent critique of the Alpina pilot's watch put me in mind of another watch brand that also provides solid, functional fliegers that seemingly 'fly' below most people's radar; Fortis. I have an F-39 Fleiger that has a design language all its own. The dial adheres to pilot watch norms (like the Alpina), but the case and bracelet scream indistinguishable.

Good call! I have the Alpina Seastrong 300 Auto it has the Sellita 200-1. It's been worn every day for years. Just shop around you can get them for a great price for what they are.⌚

Alpina is a brand I have kind of found out through your channel. Seems to provide nice affordable alternative for Longines Spirit and Oris Pointer Date collections.

I like the watch and was actually considering it as my next purchase. Your video might push me over the edge. Probably go 40mm. I know pilot watches were historically large but Alpina could have gone 42mm instead of 40mm and 44mm.

I own a blue dial one with orange numbers. It is really a nice watch I wear it quite a lot. The case is well finished and it has sapphire crystal. I think the watch is under-appreciated.
