I ran a flex 4 in my old truck years ago for the door and rear speakers. Really good sounding amp.

So, when testing 5-channel amplifiers that have shared power supplies like this one, you must load ALL channels when testing and then state what each channel is loaded to as well as ensure all channel clip simultaneously. If you don't do this and just test channels seperately the power outputs are not accurate. Try testing it again like this. It is way more difficult as you have to have scopes on multiple channels and be watching them all at once, then adjust individual levels to make sure they all clip at once.

anyone else ever wonder why the circuit boards in amps are always facing components down instead of right side up???

I have a question. if you put a 2 ohm load on the sub channel and 4 ohm load on the rest of channels, will a 5 channel amp go into protect?

Depends what amp. If it specifically supports 2 ohm on the subwoofer output then it should be completely fine
