How is this suit compared to Dainese Kyalami in terms of fit, weight, and quality? They are similarly priced. Thanks!
@RevZilla6 жыл бұрын
Dainese always gets my vote for build quality and comfort, but both being high-end 'roo suits I think they'll be equal in terms of weight. And even so, Alpinestars makes a great product too-- I'm just a sucker for Dainese. They tend to fit slimmer throughout, whereas Alpinestars is more of a v-shape with broader shoulders. -Kraus-e

What does this suit weigh with the air tech vest on? I currently have the Dainese Trickster and I'm seriously interested in these as my collarbones could use some rest... just worried they might weigh a ton
@RevZilla6 жыл бұрын
The race suit itself doesn't weigh any more than a normal suit, and when taking the vest's integrated back protector into account, the whole system difference is only perhaps a pound or so compared to the combined weight of your Dainese suit and race-style back protector. -DrewZilla

I know, right?! I wear a size 52, im a little higher than him, small build. He looks like the rock, and i can only just fit in my size 52 with a Tee on.
@smaller_cathedrals4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, same here. I'm almost exactly his size: 5'11, 42“ chest, 33 waist. I own that exact suit in a 52. And it's TIGHT! Bordering on being too tight. There's absolutely no way any kind of additional protection would fit, least of all a pack protector. I also had to remove the hip protectors. As pointed out in the video it's a race fit, and that's fine and all. But I feel like a 54 would've been a better fit. And yes, I'm seriously confused how he's wearing a 52.

Hi RevZilla, if your running the TechAir airbag system, could you remove the internal shoulder armour for more comfort? Also any tips for getting the hip armour in the correct placement for better comfort? Cheers Lee
@RevZilla7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend removing the shoulder armor, but it is possible. I can't say there are any tips for the hip armor placement other than getting the suit on and making slight variations in placement. It is all personal preference, although ultimately they do need to sit rather centered over your hip bone. -TeamZilla Chris

Are those the same knee sliders as motogp riders? I really want Astars racing ahead sliders..
@RevZilla5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the suit comes with the MotoGP sliders. The sliders that say Racing Ahead are thicker for riding in the rain (they keep the riders from leaning over as much as they would with regular thickness sliders in the dry). -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-gp-tech-v2-race-suit-for-tech-air-race *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-gp-pro-knee-sliders *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-gp-rain-knee-sliders

Hey guys. Great KZbin video. Thank you for all the information about the GP tech. My questions are these. Like you have said in previous video you can switch the tech air to either race or street mode? I can use the vest in this video for the street? This GP tech suit come in a size up to 58? Do you have to get the same size vest as the full racing suit? And last do you recommend the chest inserts that you can buy from Alpinestars for extra protection? Thank you so much for all that you guys do!
@RevZilla5 жыл бұрын
The Tech Air RACE vest can be switched between race and street mode, which is the vest compatible with this suit. The STREET vest is not compatible with this suit. If you want to use the Tech Air RACE vest for street riding, it can only be used in Tech Air RACE-compatible suits and jackets. I will link the compatible suits and jackets below. As for sizing, yes, the suit is available up to Euro size 58 (that's about a US 46-48 suit size). The suit sizes are numbered sizes, while the vest has alpha sizes (small, medium, large, etc.). We list the appropriate size combinations on the product page for the Race vest. I will list them below as well. Finally, yes, the chest protectors do add good protection, but some people find them to be a bit bulky when used with the Tech Air system. -DrewZilla *Size SM vests fit: size 44-46 euro *Size MD vests fit: size 48-50 euro *Size LG vests fit: 52-54 euro *Size XL vests fit: 56-58 euro *Size 2XL vests fit: 60-62 euro *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-tech-air-race-vest *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-gp-tech-v2-race-suit-for-tech-air-race *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-specter-jacket-for-tech-air-race *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-missile-air-leather-jacket-for-tech-air-race *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-t-missile-drystar-jacket-for-tech-air-race *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-t-missile-air-jacket-for-tech-air-race

Similar sized (5'11, 42" chest, 33 waist), and I'd DEFINITELY go for a 54. I say that as an owner of that exact suit in a 52. I can put it on, zip it up and ride comfortably enough in it, but that's it. No air whatsoever for protectors, even had to remove the hip protectors. No way in hell would a back protector fit.

No, it's not better, it's just a different system. With Alpinestars, the airbag is sold separately from the suit. With Dainese, the airbag and suit are sold as one. -DrewZilla

I'm interested why this is more expensive than the missile for example. What of this is 1000 dollars more expensive than the rest of the race suits. What the difference
@RevZilla7 жыл бұрын
It's really about materials cost and construction. Kangaroo leather panels, more areas of seamless cowhide with greater consistency of thickness, Aramid stitching reinforcement, hydration bladder race hump, replaceable sliders, etc. Quality race suits are going to be packed with as many safety considerations as possible, but a top-of-the-line suit like this one also accounts for comfort, weight, and feel. -TeamZilla Chris

Alpinestars GP Tech or Alpinestars Atem 3?
@RevZilla4 жыл бұрын
That really comes down to personal preference for your riding, budget, and whether or not you plan to add a Tech Air Race system inside. If you want to discuss all the options and find whats right for you, please reach out to our customer service Gear Geeks for more information! Ride safe, Pat

Had a similar decision to make when buying a jacket. Went with the Atem 3 in that case, because I liked the look of it more than the Missile and wasn't planning on getting the air vest. Haven't checked prices, but afaik the GP Tech V2 should be considerably more expensive as it is the top of the line suit. If you don't need all those fancy features (kangaroo leather, air vest, etc) you'll save a lot of money going with the Atem 3 and STILL get an awesome suit!
