VanguardTrainer2488 New Time Rules brings out the crap out of people. I remember watching a VGC video for Pokemon( the video games have a in-game time) it was a match between a girl and a guy. The guy was taking his sweet time trying to pick what moves to use and the girl had the game, both players knew she did but he had more life on his pokemons and he stalled a whole two minutes. She was squirming on her chair, freaking out, and she busted out on tears at the end because the guy one and he even smirks right at the end of the match with a face saying "oh well time is up". This was like a nationals, its sad cause people go up to these events and for what for someone to stall out time. Miss the old time rules that way everyone gets a chance.

I guess he was thinking if he could use Heatleo to link down and try to rebuild the board. And he wanted to see if Sanctuary can help him out in the specific play if he used Sunlight wolf. People in 2019 won't believe that humans think once in a while! Amazing! God damn. Humans can think!? Amazing! I obviously ain't saying 10 mins waiting. But 30 seconds IS NOT A STALL. Sit down and think of your own combo! The opponent literally gives you time to think how to approach. I can't see that being a reason to DQ someone. Some play slow ,some play fast. Not all are the same. I play fast. I sometimes mess my own plays. On tournament you got to be CAREFUL. So being slow makes sence. Right?

Give the player who has priory a 5 second grace period to choose if they want to hit their timer to respond or even if they dont technically have a response they should be allowed to take their own time to think. It would be better even if every player abused the full grace period just to run down the opponents timer as much as legally possible. The 50/50 timer would make each player almost 100% responsible for their own time management and prevent rule sharking by giving each player the ability to make plays and think about the game at their own pace.

@@justawarlord yeah no, at such a major event at top tables with 4 minutes left in time and you start doing random stuff, then yeah that's a warning. Look at the gamestate. There is nothing he could do that involves his hand, graveyard. But that's what he's looking through. To make matters worse, he starts looking through his side deck with 4 minutes left. His only options were to make something from the extra deck, which ironically enough, he didn't look through. If you need time to read cards, then pass turn and read them while your opponent is thinking, because even after he looked through banished, grave and side deck. He spends more time by pulling out a card from grave and reading it. At this point, judges called him out for slow playing. The penalty he received was for unintentional slow play. Meaning, the guy was just playing slow, not because he wanted to win in time. "Being a slow player" is not an excuse for slow playing. Not to mention, the giest player asked him like 3 or 4 times times to play faster. He also got a previous slow play warning.

The main split in the community seems to come from debate on whether or not Lee was slowplaying and then that Dakota is sharking, once again the judge himself made the call that it was slowplaying and Lee has been penalized for slowplaying at events beforehand, and new konami policy makes it so you can not even be in a tournament and get dq'd. Seriously, I think we just need more time per round. Instead of 40 mins I would extend it to 50, with the same time rules applying as right now. Those ten minutes would prevent half of the time calls Edit: Also, on its own, reading your cards isn't a bad thing and needed even if you're seasoned with a deck as the game has so many intricacies and cards with a lot of text. For example: I still regularly catch Thunder Dragon players trying to execute Titans destruction-effect as if it was an "if"-effect when in fact it's a "when"-effect.

I've lost to slow players before and it sucks. I've learned you have to shark them so you don't lose to time. Anyway, konami needs to incorporate a player timer that gives each player 2 minutes per turn. You exceed your time you get a game loss. Problem solved.

besides factors and variables such as bias and human fallacy, there should be no reason as to why he should've had a game loss. we don't know why he read sanctuary, and it doesnt matter, the time rule changes are ridiculous. we could come up with numerous reasons why he read it, maybe he was trying to see if he could recurr it, or if it had an effect in grave, etc. The opponent was a rule abuser, a shark. If the entire tourney is going to be like this, even after it was stated that the game was pacing well, then we cant guarantee that whoever wins, at any point, deserves it.

I honestly don't get how you could call someone for looking at a card in a graveyard "time stalling" or "slow playing". Sometimes people like to think of combos to do and just need to re-read a card to see if something might happen in the next turn. I can understand if the guy just sat there literally doing nothing for 2 minutes and was legitimately being a douche trying to waste time, but looking at a card like that and then getting DQ'd for that is pretty absurd. People need time to think, lol. If you want to talk about actual time stalling, I used to do Yugioh tournaments in the early 2000's and I once saw this 8 year old kid enter a tournament where his mother watched him play and his literal strategy was to do just enough damage to the opponent and then to basically stop playing and wasting time so that time would be called and he'd win the duel. I have no idea why the judges didn't seem to do anything about this and I distinctly remember while watching the end of the game that the young kid was just smirking knowing that he was going to win that way and the other player was super pissed off knowing that the young kid was just wasting time to scum a win. The thing is, the young kid didn't even get in trouble for it, which I found very odd and still wonder how an 8 year old could enter tournaments. I guess back in the day they didn't care too much about the age unless it was going to actual nationals or world.

In my opinion with that kinda thing it depends on the Deck. Someone playing BA, D/D/D, Salamangreat, etc., decks that heavily use the graveyard, would be expected to check through their graveyard for plays. Someone playing, I don't know, Madolches for example would have no reason to. I will admit it was a little suspicious of him to check Sanctuary of all things, but it wasn't like he might lose if his opponent got to go to battle phase or some such.

Each player should get no more than 60 second per turn (including the time your opponent activate their card and react during your turn). Put a timer on the table, just like how you play in a professional chess tournaments. No player is allowed to ask to read your card's effects. Missplaying will result in disqualification. Do these things and we'll have no problem. Players will just have to adapt to the fast-paced playing style.
