This build is solid and one of my favorite flavors of TR. Quill Rain carries VERY hard. Totem placement speed feels great. Totems scaling off attack speed feels great. My major issue with TR in general is that when you're moving as fast as you can you'll end up killing things behind you and having to turn back for them. Even with a properly strict filter the lean back to loot gets old quickly. I'm not sure how this is "fixable"; I think it's just a fact of TR's initial delay, that it's DoT (even tho this isn't an issue with enough damage), and we want to moving hyper fast. Then again.. it is a league starter but still.

I ran TR ballista champ a few leagues back and it felt pretty good. Obviously not using Wilma and adrenaline. And I went with focused ballista. It's fast, tough, and not bad on single targets for a pretty small budget. Great all-rounder league starter. Good cluster jewels will skyrocket your damage.

@biduMandias @Tyler I was just going to say something like this. Also, the caustic ground from CA doesn't stack from overlaps like the pods from TR do. However, I've seen builds in the past that focus on scaling the hit damage which totems + attack speed /would/ help. You'd also get the benefit that CA shoots a projectile towards enemies ahead of you potentially.

Have been excited for this helmet and thought about experimenting with it next season. Stop pumping the price and making it unaffordable for league-starters :D Then again, my starter for next season isn't set yet. Good content anyways :) edit: i recommend attack and cast speed while focused for gloves . The veiled mod rolls from 45-50. A perfect roll would give you 100% attack speed while focused for a big burst :)

On the topic of Anomalous CA being an overkill - maybe you can consider using Ensnaring Arrow instead. It helps with slowing enemies even more, so it fits with TR.

Cast speed that counts towards attack speed works (according to mathil) like this: If you have a souce like grants 10% attackspeed, grants 10% cast speed it gives you 20%. If it says grants 10% attack and cast speed you only get 10%. You might want to check that out.

Actually an amazing build. Been playing it for the last week in ssf and it feels great. One thing I am using is void sphere for all the stationary leauge mechanics (Ritual, harbringer, Strongboxes and Expedition). Enemys are omega slow and no corpes are amazing for farming Vaal temple for example. With the duration notes its up 9 out of 10 seconds.

Bow build where i can just use quill rain? Sign me up. I really like bow builds but i suck massive pp at crafting in general so i usually have big problem leaguestarting them. PS. Thoughts on Trickster?

Dot bows are pretty easy to craft though, they are super deterministic and there's a few guides about how to get a good one 100%

@@naguro4863 I dont like crafting apart from something like throwing essences on an item or reforging it with harvest. I had too many instances of me saving currency to craft something for it only to end up in failure. It just feels like i wasted my time on all that currency that i spent on the craft. I would rather spend more time farming currency to buy a ready item but it can be cumbersome if build needs a decent bow to even get going. Here i can just buy quillrain and be happy.

@@oLaudix oh don't worry that's why +3 bows are loved. They are totally RNG proof, as soon as you have the money for the metacrafts you Can guarantee a good one. You do need Empower to make them worthwhile though

got the build up and running, items are bought, gems slotted in, lvl 95, char feels really good in t16's. now to grab my last two labs and really start the tests at different budget breakpoints

I tossed some ideas around with your PoB and I was wondering if Witchfire Brew was a good addition to this build? It gives a nice 20% more evasion and fantastic curse aura for mapping. Fitting that together with a Jade Flask gives an incredible amount of Evasion to round out the already high Armour. Witchfire Brew has been historically cheap this last league (~4c, maybe like 50c for a well rolled one) and if things don't change, it can be a really cheap and easy addition. On a side note, do you find any need for Phasing in terms of comfort and QoL? Is there value in keeping the "#% chance to gain Phasing on Kill" nodes just to keep this effect? Keep it up Pal, these videos are awesome.

Even before the Wilmas hype got out of control, I've been meaning to set up a PoB to compare TR with a quill rain and a +4 chest.. vs just a well crafted +3 Bow.... I was assuming +3 Bow still wins, but I wanted to know by how much.. throwing Wilmas into the mix with say a Raider who can abuse both Frenzy and Onslaught makes me wonder if Quill Rain base atk speed will tip the scales even more.

yeah it's not enough of a difference for me to give up the quill rain playstyle! I'm sure I'd reconsider at an BiS 6-stat +3 bow, but the bows that are being made on day 1/2 literally can't compete.

I really wish they'd improve the delay on protector/warchief though, the ranged style of ballistas makes it so much less noticable (plus I think they're ~0.25s faster to first attack still anyways)

You don't have any leech with TR normally since you are not scaling the hit portion (lots of times you are not even close to hit capped), but this would also not leech because you have Ancestral Bond

Yes, but if there’s no comma in the text you don’t double dip. Also, 3% speed requires ilvl 84 clusters which are even now 2-3 divines for a good base. They only drop from simulacrum or very rarely from an atlas passive. Not ideal for a league start scenario

So I tried it out and I must admit, I don't like it. It's way clunkier than EA ballistas are at the moment and the benefit from the helmet is minimal. I'd rather play a typical TR build than this, but kudos for trying this out.
