I still love the original version to pieces, but this is really growing on me. I keep playing it over and over. It's a whole different thing, but I really like it. You're awesome for always putting up alternate versions and stuff like that.

@@prettyprrrrettaygood it’s interesting writing. And, I think a double entendre. I believe it refers to walking on grass barefoot and there being shards of glass on it you can’t see, but, maybe also a metaphor for laced drugs, while I don’t think that’s really morrissey’s territory, I thought it was an interesting take. Sometimes musicians are tricked into doing drugs at parties and the song is somewhat about deceit

This makes me wonder how Mick Ronson would have produced Vauxhall. Granted the ambiance Lillywhite captured makes it my fave Morrissey album when I have a smoke sesh ;)

Love both versions, the album version is the best in my opinion (maybe because I heard it first but it's more emotional, I think) Can't help hearing "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" in the guitar....anyone else? Love the pic of him, though

yeah definitely - feels very similar to The Queen is Dead album all over. I love, love, love this version. The album version is superb, but I can't imagine this version not existing now I've heard it.

Yea I heard 'Some Girls are Bigger' straight away. and the 'Queen Is Dead' wah wah through the outro. Alain took a whole lot from Marr at this time. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just true.

I'm sure the opening riff to this song is "borrowed" from Robert Gordon's "Something's Gonna Happen" - very similar and Moz a big fan of Gordon during this period.

This version is better. Some of ‘Vauxhall’ is too polished in its production. This is raw and feels more urgent.
