As a kid I walked past a high end Hi-Fi store every day on my way back home from elementary school and the owner was a Deodato - Charlie Antolini and other jazz greats of the 1970s fan. I stopped by just to listen at least once a week for about an hour and Eumir was one of my favorites.

I got the original album back in the beginning of the 70´s. Billy Cobham, Stanley Clarke, Chris Spedding, and more. So innovative and great. Knowing all the little details and syncopes back then was a fantastic arrangement. Eumirs new crew ( very skilled musicians ) holds up their part perfect. To play this without the horn section and not loosing the big picture is difficult,,,, but these guys managed to do it. BRAVO !!!!

I first heard this while travelling from Liverpool to Australia & New Zealand as a a dog handler on the ACT V1 in January 1974. A recording which brings back fabulous memories of a remarkable voyage when I was livestock shipping manager of Spratt's Patent Ltd ( sadly now defunct ). The officers of ACT V1 played this recording incessantly and quite understandably. A really wonderful piece of music not to be ignored ever.The 1974 version is the best ever...

We will never see music like this performed on Americas Got Talent , American Idol or any of those stupid shows because they dont welcome true originality. They want music that is easily pigeonholed and categorized so it can be fed to the masses like fast food

In a way that would not be fair, because these guys are professionals, in those reality shows they are mostly amateurs. Also, like others point out, this is not music for the masses.
@rocketman637 жыл бұрын
I'd like to see it too, but they don't want to expose people to great music OR discover true talent. They want to hunt up more soundalike grist for the music mill. We'll just have to count ourselves among the fortunate inner circle who "get" performers like Eumir Deodato, and this wonderful Italian fusion group (Euro Groove Department).

Aún vivo, aún pienso: aún tengo que vivir, pues aún tengo que pensar. Sum, ergo cogito: cogito, ergo sum [soy, luego pienso: pienso, luego soy]. F. Nietzsche. Fuente: LA GAYA SCIENZA. Monte Avila Editores. 1990. Página 158.
