I see absolutely no reason that Giannis/Dame cant run their own variation of the Jokic/Murray two man game. You may not have quite the passing level of Jokic but Giannis is absolutely no slouch as a playmaker. Its gotta be a chemistry/coaching issue I refuse to believe this duo cant dominate.
@eyerull53012 күн бұрын
Because Giannis is a terrible screen setter and tbh is pretty shitty at doing anything other than slipping on actions. Not a good off ball player
@urbaindelva78692 күн бұрын
Jokic and Murray have been playing together since both were drafted; their two-man game is part of their basketball DNA at this point and was developed and repped out over a long period of time. Giannis and Dame just became teammates a year ago and have clearly not put in the time and effort necessary to have anything close to that kind of chemistry. They didn't work out together this past off-season, and they didn't have enough time to work out together last off-season because the Dame trade occurred so late in the off-season. Coaching is a part of it, but it's also them. Either they are simply not a good fit, don't have enough time together, or neither of them are willing to sacrifice for the other.
@lxbronx62 күн бұрын
THANK YOU!!!!!! It drives me crazy that they don’t have a pnr game. No dho at all. 😭😭😭
@MrBubblecake2 күн бұрын
Because Giannis isn’t the great passer/playmaker you think he is, he has horrible tunnel vision and is always trying to go up in the paint while doubled instead of passing out, and when he does pass it, it’s after he’s pushed around until there’s 1 second left before he gets called for standing in the paint too long, so the defense knows the ball is getting kicked out by the time he passes it. Giannis doesn’t make his teammates better, he just draws double teams, which only helps your team if you constantly pass when doubled. Jokic is a less selfish player than Giannis, and that’s what it comes down to. Giannis spends too much time trying to get himself more stats.

The Clippers had bad injury luck, but his time with the Sixers and now Bucks were marked by bad adjustments and usage of his rosters. He's also supposed to be a defensive coach, but clearly isn't keeping to that with this team.

You may be asking yourself, how did the Milwaukee Bucks go from an NBA Champion and possible reincarnation of the 2000s San Antonio Spurs, TO THIS? The answer can best be described by one man. No its not Doc Rivers, he was thrown straight into the fire. The reason why the Bucks are a mess starts at the top. The moment that Marc Lasry sold his portion of the team, was the moment that this organization jumped the shark. The reasoning wasn't due to him leaving but who took his place. If you thought David Tepper was the worst owner in all of sports, Jimmy Haslam makes him look like a choirboy. If you thought his tenure with the Cleveland Browns is bad enough, this is even worse. Even since he bought the Bucks in 2023, they've become an absolute trainwreck. Remember when he traded the Browns entire future to the Texans for Deshaun Watson and gave him $230M fully guaranteed? HE LITERALLY DID THE EXACT SAME THING WITH DAMIAN LILLARD! Not only did they give up most of their remaining future, but they gave the Celtics, THE DREADED CELTICS Jrue Holiday. No wonder why Boston is about to become possibly the next great dynasty in the NBA. And if they do, you can thank both Haslam and Billy King. Giannis I beg of you. GET OUT OF THERE! Its not because of your relationship with the city of Milwaukee or the organization, get out of there because you don't deserve to have most of your prime wasted thanks to a clown owner who changes philosophies like he changes pants.

This is what you get when teams overplay players. They now don't have money. Don't you find it odd that every player (almost) gets his max contract when it time even when they are even close to being a max player. Paul George has won nowhere. He's usually the reason the team loses as well. Yet teams keep throwing money at him thinking it going to change. Worse he misses more game every year. NBA teams are lucky the NBA does have and actual cap you can't go over, or no team would be good. They only things teams do is throw money at it thinking that will work. Get 3 max guys and you're golden. The other 9 guys don't matter with just need three max guys and the rest can be trash.

It might sound simple, but both your scripted and unscripted work these days is consistently extremely organized, informative, and confident, more than it ever has been. I agree with a ton of what you’re saying here, and I’ve been so frustrated at the Bucks not consistently running PnR with Dame and Giannis, I lean towards thinking Giannis needs to take a step back, I wish Giannis would bite the bullet and play a more traditional role as a big around a guard who plays very well off of (to the point where he arguably overly relies on) traditional bigs.

Those teams were really nothing crazy, but they had a winning record both seasons, and the 2019 Clippers are one of the most overachieving teams I've seen in recent years, taking the Warriors to 6. The Bucks as a team they are in danger of going off the cliff completely. A second apron team with this level of results is a disaster. The Bucks look old and top heavy. The team is overpaying for old players and has no money to fill out the roster with usable depth. The young players on the team (up to this point) provide nothing toward winning. But hey, they're young players! The team has 3 recent second round picks (Tyler Smith, Andre Jackson, Chris Livingston) taking up roster spots on the 15-man as well as another rookie AJ Johnson taking another spot. You DO NOT WIN in the NBA with your bench full of rookies and unproven second round picks. Also, you have AJ Green an undrafted 3rd year player taking up a roster spot who is basically a one trick pony (he can light it up from 3 in garbage time but is never used when it matters). That's one third of the roster that is unproven or perhaps just plain scrubs. Add in Marjon Beauchamp and that is 6 of the 15 players that provide absolutely nothing right now. Maybe start playing AJ Johnson a little bit more and see what he can do. The Bucks organization is horrible at developing young players lately. When the older and in some cases, injury prone players in the Bucks rotation get hurt (which is bound to happen this season), who off this deep bench is going to step up and keep the ship afloat? Crickets! At least these guys came cheap so the owner can pay less luxury tax! The Bucks are old. Lopez is 36 so the clock is ticking. Dame is 34 and has had injury issues while only averaging 58 games played per year over the last 5 seasons so the clock is ticking. Middleton is 33 and has only averaged 57 games played per year over the last 5 seasons and what a surprise he's missed the first 6+ games this year so far. Middleton can still play but his All-star years are behind him. He's not worth the money he's being paid. Connaughton is 32 and looks like he may be going off the age cliff right now (his ppg averages over the last 3 years are 9.9, 7.6, 5.6 and so far, this year 3.8 ppg on 26% from three. Prince (great FA pickup) he's playing well but the team is still struggling with him hitting 54% from three. That will regress toward his career average of 38% so someone else will have to pick up the slack eventually. Delon Wright is 32 and appears to also be going off the age cliff (his ppg averages over the last 4 years are 10.2, 4.4, 7.4, 4.5 and so far, this year 2.5 ppg). With young players providing nothing and older rotation players showing that the clock is ticking is it any wonder why the rumors of Giannis wanting out are continuing to pop up? Can you blame him? Now to Giannis. Superstar. One of the top 5 or 10 most coveted players in the entire league. He's also the easiest Superstar for other teams to scheme against defensively. This is his turning age 30 NBA season, so he basically is who he is at this point. Career 3 point % is just 28.6%. Giannis shooting from outside doesn't scare anybody. The majority of his offensive philosophy is "Put my head down and bull rush to the rim and bitch to the ref when I don't get a foul call." If opposing teams have a chance to set up their half-court defense against Giannis, he is a much less effective player. Fouling him is a good strategy on his bull rushes because he leaves a lot of points at the line. He's shooting just 53% from the line so far this year which is the worst of his career, and he goes to the line a lot, so the low percentage isn't because of a small sample size. Giannis hasn't made a three-point shot yet this season in six games. WTF? His steal and block numbers are down this year with current averages thru six games both at the lowest of his entire career. His personal foul average is up at 3.5 per game so far which is the highest average of his career. It's early but Giannis' statistical performance looks a little strange to start this season. You have to hope it isn't a sign of something bigger being wrong.

I'm a bucks fan and I love Giannis, it's disheartening how his abandoned his mid ridge after winning the chip. The one year he improved in that, they won.

As a Bucks fan, I knew right away that the Doc hire was a mistake, but it's actually been worse than I even could have imagined. I'd say it'd be hilarious if he got traded as a coach for a second time, but he literally doesn't have any observable value at this point. No other team would possibly be that misguided.

@briangupton1619Күн бұрын
Maybe I missed this but I think you are missing their main problem. Giannis is big and long-legged. He needs a ton of room to operate. Throw in slow-footed Brook Lopez also taking up tons of space and it's very hard to build an effective offense with such limited space if Giannis is going to initiate from the 3-point line.

Dame and Giannis (whether of their own doing or because of coaching) are putting all sorts of NBA Twitter takes to bed. I was told “Give Dame a player of KD’s caliber and he’ll be just like Steph or even better” and, well, womp womp. Also was told “Giannis can play with anybody. He fits seemlessly with any superstar in the league just like KD” and well, womp womp

Since 2016-17 when Giannis became a superstar, the Bucks have lost in the first round 4 times. That's 50% of the time. Imagine any superstar getting this much slack for not making it passed the 1st round. We get Joel Embiid so much crap out of not making it to the ECF but if a ball bounces another way, another shot goes in, we're talking about Durant's Nets beating Giannis's Bucks in 2020-21 and we're having a discussion about why is Giannis still in Milwaukee (if he even stays w/o the ring), and why can't he get it done in the playoffs?
@cooperdreon28115 сағат бұрын
I’m sorry, are you actually saying Dame has never been a PNR playmaker? My guy, him and Nurkic were #1 in pick and roll points for like 3 years. Definitely not the point to be making. The fact is that his two best weapons that can screen for him are absolutely aweful at screening and getting themselves open off those screens.
@spaceman_spiff2391Күн бұрын
If I'm Giannis im getting out of Milwaukee asap. Dude is averaging 30/12/6 on 63% TS and they are 1 and 5. He and dame have zero on court chemistry and even when dame put up 41/9/4 with 10/15 3pt, they still lost. With doc rivers and Darvin Hamas coaching, I have zero faith they will turn it around either.
@tylerriley2587Күн бұрын
if Doc Rivers is your NBA coach, your chances for an NBA Championship are in the toilet. But Doc relies on talent to win, and the Bucks offense is a dumpster fire. Guys are not getting to their spots, not setting screens or cutting to the basket, just standing and watching Dame or Giannis operate with the ball in their hands. and Defense is trash to :(.

On point with your analysis. Doc is an overated coach, so he needs to go. Middleton is injury prone and mainly not available, so he needs to go. Dame needs to learn to play off ball and share more or needs to go.

Giannis, Giannis, Giannis... Trade him. He doesn't screen and doesn't play help-side defence. Steven Adams is a good screener? Good, trade Giannis for Adams and you got your screener MIL. Just do it! Then you can see screens with Brook and Adams! And they won't require the ball as much as Giannis does. I mean the solution is LOOKING right there! LOL. I get the feeling that OKC will accept Giannis for Adams, hopefully without additional assets, so MIL can keep all the assets and run the screens and solve the help-side D as well in one go!

@panagiotisatmatzidis997219 сағат бұрын
@@Fake-yr9xd I'm trolling but you get the idea 🙂- Giannis is the only who is actually _trying_ out there. Dame plays one time and 3 is nowhere to be found and the rest of the team is slow and old. The two young guys never get the right amount of time and they obviously can't grow playings 3 to 5 minutes. Unfortunately the Bucks are shitshow top to bottom right now, but talking about Giannis given the performance and body language of everybody else is ridiculous.
@ryanshearer5653Күн бұрын
I’ll never understand the Bucks freaking out about losing to the 8 seed Heat. The Heat missed a ton of minutes from key role players in the season, Giannis was hurt, and the Heat went to the finals from there. If we had been on the other side of the bracket, the team would not have fired Budenholzer

The bucks horrendously failed to properly build reliable and responsible backups behind both Giannis & Middleton. All they do is rely on those 2 & fall into a meeseeks blaming system Since 2021, they haven't once built any rookies (wether 1st rd, 2nd rd or undrafted) to be a reliable backup being the two main people they abusiveoy codepend upon. Now they're going to be screwed just as bad as the warriors, clippers & heat once their stars leave. But the sad thing is, spoelstra can turn lemons into daiquiris when he has rookies. Kerr has been exposed constantly for being a horrible coach for the youth movement, and the clippers need to make a deal with the devil to finally absolve their curse

This team fucked up majorly. Firing bud making an actually good hire in griffin than downgrading to doc. They also overpaid a lot of mediocre free agents snd overpaid brook. The dame trade looks horrific especially when you look at jrue right now who im taking jrue over dame both now and all time. Plus they have to worry about health and brook slowing down plus giannis isnt getting any younger. they have this and next season probably of a playable brook and khris. The bucks really shit themselves on this trade instead of getting depth and quality role players you are getting a overpriced costar whos regressing heavily and is a liability on defense especially against bigger guards like shai or luka and he gets murdered on switches
TRADE both Giannis and Dame. Clear cap space, obtain draft picks and serviceable players in trades and start a rebuild.
