These guys get a lot of stick sometimes but they never sold out to mainstream and keep upping their musical game form album to album...always fresh, always innovating the indie genre. That's why they're still my favourite band.

I actually have seen these guys personally grow from radio listens and from playing shows with bigger slots as the years went on.. i live near KC where the alternative station 96.5 the buzz actually did a really good job at showcasing/getting the word out about them.. I remember when their first well known album came out they were actually 2nd from the headlining band at the festival the radio station put on.. they were 2nd from the band phoenix..which was pretty surprising for it only being their first album.. but dam they got a big crowd.. even freaking Awolnation played BEFORE them, lol Buzz beach ball was the festival, whoever scheduled the bands especially that year for the festival must have been on Xanax or something..lol
@robbiematthews1682 жыл бұрын
Hell, even Cage the elephant played before Awolnation.. I don’t know what that festival organizer was thinking lmao

@@robbiematthews168 Berkley riverfront park that was an amazing show. Didn't expect to see a reference to this in the comments. Probably my favorite beach ball lineup ever. Too bad 96.5 isn't "the buzz" anymore
@robbiematthews1682 жыл бұрын
@@superflymodz I was still like middle school aged during when it happened.. so that big ass crowd still was at times overwhelming like wow.. this is a successful year of the festival for the station lol.. but I’m glad to say I was there to witness it.. seeing surf punk band Wavves on the side stage was a definite highlight.. there now one of my all time favorites.. sucks the buzz is so corporate bs now to where mid-Covid/ those shows they put on just completely disappeared it seems..

I've loved alt-J since I was 17 and some guy I had a crush on online introduced me to them on Soundcloud because they hadn't released anything more "official" yet. It's the kind of thing that ingrains a band in your psyche, when everything speaks to you on that deeper level and settles into your bones while you listen. You and I... cut from the same cloth Cannot wait to see them live again next month 💕

I'm going to be vilified for saying this but I don't care....Alt-J's old stuff had so much more depth and color and their songs went right inside your soul and STUCK with you. I am talking abotu stuff like Taro, Matilda, Breezeblocks, Hunger of the Pine, etc. etc. The list of beautiful soul stirring songs goes on and on. But with the last 2 releases their songs have been so painfully mediocre it makes me wonder what the heck happened to this great band? With the last album their 3WW was a great song but then the entire rest of the album was boring as hell....and now again U&ME was a half decent song along with Get Better...but everything else is painful to listen through. My 2 cents and I really hope Alt-J get their mojo back. This ain't their peak stuff..no sir, i'm sorry.
