New to this band...These guys are awesome...proof that contemporary techno stuff can be a great vehicle for some amazing ancient Celtic Highlands rhythmic chant-like sounds to come through...totally talented and gifted band! Vocals and instrumentals are quite good! Would sure like to experience them live!

This is contemporary nothing and its definitely not techno. this is music. not noise. if you told any loop artist nice techno machine, youre gonna get punched in your techno mouth. id be really pissed if my music was described like that. Now dont be a small mind and get defensive. Thats stupid. Just skip that and go right to ok i hear and respect that as its not described anywhere by the band members or fans as you did, so instead of labeling and boxing up their talent let their sound be heard by minds not conditioned incorrectly and ignored and so lost the chance to experience this beautiful energy.

I found them in 2015 with the album, An Awesome Wave. I wish they would've became mainstream with that record rather than Relaxor or whatever it's called. They are like night and day. Glad you found them. Go check out their concert on KEXP on KZbin. Sounds exactly like the record. And it came out 10 years ago…!

yes i love their intentional strange vocal sounds some call singing but i feel like it should have a name of its own, what it is they do with music, is theirs, they literally own the energy their sounds create which is something just above music. so in many more words, exactly what you said lol

Why would somebody ever thumb this down? Because the concert should have been longer or 'cause they left out some good songs? Because the ultracool blonde bass/ guitar player gwil left the band every single musician wants to be in??? I don't know that's why I liked the video :3

Im surprised someone hasnt taught a bit of mic technique to the singer, he is right on top of the mic the whole time so when he goes into lower register its just not heard in the mix enough, a problem Ive seen with lots of their live shows. cool show though.

anyone knows what he says at the end of Bloodflood Pt.2 ? from 28:31-29:01
@wilfer11
@wilfer11 10 жыл бұрын
"Quela, Quela" and from rock.genius.com/Alt-j-bloodflood-pt-ii-lyrics : "Red-billed queleas are the most populated wild bird species in the world, though only living in Africa. A flock of them may symbolize a bloodflood due to their abundance and red color of their bills. The quelea is also previously mentioned in the song ‘Pusher’ quite prominently."

Some of their newest ones are better in terms of vocals, like this set from 2017: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qafVdXdqr9iNq6ssi=K2q8Nz4zbibe_s4J , I also don't generally like the sound quality on this video even in comparison to others, the drums are a bit too loud, especially compared to the synths and guitar, which care more central to their sound. Quite a rare setlist to find a video of though so that's nice at least.
