I have a suggestion guys: when pausing the song, please rewind 5-10 secs before playing it again. As someone who knows pretty much all the metal song you are reviewing, the paused section often stops at a good transition with the next part. It is in my opinion important to have the full connection/transition between the parts of the song. Example here would be the 10:15 paused section just before the solo. Hope that makes sense :) I really enjoy your metal review and appreciate the free thinking!

Here is the story of the song "Blackbird" was inspired lyrically by a friend of mine named Mark Morse. He sold me my first guitar when I was a kid, and we stayed friends for years and years. He actually passed away right as that song was being completed so it was dedicated to him and his memory. It's really about seeing the suffering he was going through and hoping he would find his solace soon and be free from all of that. We were trying to find a chorus for it, so we were banging it out for a few hours, not having [any] luck, so I went into the other room. And they were still working on something, and there was an urban dance group in the next room, because it's a rehearsal studio. And there was just this cacophony of sound: I heard them, and I heard this over here, and it was just noise. And it was weird-it was like, out of those two noises, even though they were playing something completely different, came this idea for the chorus of "Blackbird."

I love hearing that this song was voted best solo. It truly does deserves the recognition because it has everything in it. Well written & played...has amazing feel & emotion...is melodic & has technical parts too. But in truth it's actually split into TWO solos. Both Tremonti & Kennedy solo on this. Myles is the 1st slow & bluesy part & Mark is the 2nd part where the band comes in big & it gets more technical. Both are great guitarists who fully compliment each other.

Another great reaction, guys! Alter Bridge is a pretty special band and you've just heard one of their very best songs (and the guitar solo was voted the best guitar solo of all time by Guitarist magazine back in 2011). Their range is simply incredible from more introspective stuff like this to straight-up metal - - they can do it all. But for some reason they've just never broke through into the upper echelon. As a fan of music in general, it's actually embarrassing that they've never gotten the proper recognition. Myles Kennedy - - their vocalist is simply one of the best vocalists in all of rock and metal. So good, in fact, that when Led Zeppelin (who you should totally check out, if you haven't) couldn't make a reunion happen with Robert Plant they called this guy to come audition. So, for future Alter Bridge reactions check out Slip to the Void, Words Darker than Their Wings, Poison In Your Veins, Cry of Achilles, Addicted to Pain, Metalingus. Shit, there's so many to choose from, really.

Blackbird is possibly Alter’s Bridge’s best song, but that’s because it’s amazing and deserves to be up there with the greatest songs of all-time, but everything else they produce is great. They offer a really wide catalog. Heavier stuff you could give a shot would be Metalingus, Ties That Bind, Come to Life, White Knuckles, Isolation, Addicted to Pain, Farther Than the Sun, Cry of Achilles, Crows on A Wire, Island of Fools. Some lighter tracks of theirs would be Open Your Eyes, In Loving Memory, Broken Wings, Watch Over You, Rise Today, Ghost of Days Gone By, Wonderful Life. Hope you guys get to experience more AB!

This is my favorite Alter Bridge song, and to me I agree that this is a perfect song, and I am somewhat ashamed I didn't think to request it. The first half of the solo is played by the singer, and while it is technical simple, it conveys an amazing amount of emotion, which is almost as important. Woooooowwwwww I did not see this one coming guys. You really made my day with this. This song hits really close to home. One of my favorite songs of all time by one of my favorite bands. Btw this was a tribute for one of the band's friends, who was dying of cancer, if I'm not mistaken. Your reaction to this was almost exactly like mine. Watching these videos reminds me of the first time I heard these songs. Please don't stop doing what you're doing, you guys are great, I don't think you realize what a great thing you're all doing by making these videos. Please keep making more. If you liked this song, try "Broken Wings" or "In Loving memory". Anyway, they do not have one bad song in their repertoire. Keep it up guys, you're both modern day heroes. mine.

Not to shadow the band as a whole, but the Myles Kennedy/Mark Tremonti mash up is amazing. Kennedy's vocals w Tremontis godlike guitar.. epic. I definitely would recommend checking out more of Alterbridge. The true appreciation is live w Tremontis stage presence alone.
@RowdyGrunt6 жыл бұрын
Alter Bridge is one of the best, most technically and artistically accomplished bands in the genre. There isn't a bad song by them on any record. Kudo's for playing these guys. Myles Kennedy is the amazing vocalist and Mark Tremonti is the legendary guitarist; one of the few that can bridge technicality and melody so well. Thank you for reviewing this song!!!
@scottgillespie38386 жыл бұрын
Brian Oravetz Yes , decent guitar they are talented vocals..but lets not get carried away..they make radio friendly songs with hardly any technical attributes..basic horrible drummer..pretty basic..im sure u like avenged and five finger too..👎
@UnWastedMovies6 жыл бұрын
Lord Bolton, I love metal, the more technical the more awesome, but you can't deny this is a masterpiece, or that Blackbird by the Beatles is a masterpiece even tho it's very basic. Not everything has to be a math contest to be great and this song drives on the emotion it carries, which isn't about technical attributes.
@scottgillespie38386 жыл бұрын
UnWastedMovies I somewhat agree with that assessment..but u made pretty big claim on saying how technical and amazing they are...good song good band yes..masterpiece and legendary not so sure.
@RowdyGrunt6 жыл бұрын
Bolton, I like a lot of music. But your judgement is not one of logical soundness. Yes, they make some radio friendly songs; but that does not necessarily make them "bad" songs. Mark Tremonti and even Myles Kennedy are tremendously talented guitarists. Kennedy is an absolutely talented vocalist. Your judgement seems to be based upon personal taste, not technical merit. If you choose to deny the sheer technical playing ability and musical ability, then you fly in the face of musicians who are at the highest level of the musical profession. I've played since the mid-80's. While I am no master, I am an experienced judge of talent. I'm also mature and wise enough not to judge a person on their musical tastes. Nor do I talk down to anyone based upon what music they enjoy. What does Avenged and Five Finger have to do with anything? Would you like to talk down on their skills too? Because if you do, you would fly in the face of the fact that both of those bands are highly technically skilled. You may not like their music, but it does not mean that they are not technically skilled.
@cem3306 жыл бұрын
Being technical doesn't mean being musical. World of difference. You can find hundreds if not thousands of insanely technically gifted guitarists on KZbin. They have outstanding control and understanding of their instrument, can play arpeggios, legattos etc at scarcily believeable speeds yet they all sound the same. You can't tell one guitarist from another. That's because they lack musical feel. A sense of melody. Essentially, they're one dimensional. Mark Tremonti is a rare breed of metal guitarist who has that mixture of technical ability and musicality. When he flies around the fretboard he does so with purpose, not to showboat.

Older albums are easier to listen, Fortress and The Last Hero are much more demanding. Chord progressions, lyrics, Myles' involvement as lead guitar, arrangements, basically everything evolved. "Blackbird" was the best song they've ever made (GODGB was close though), they couldn't beat it with any song from ABIII. I'm happy they went in such heavy and complex direction. Alter Bridge started with very "Creedy" approach, now they're doing their own thing as last two albums prove it very well. After so many years as a guitar player, I find "One Day Remains" very boring. I still like those songs but they won't pleasure my ears as much as Fortress or The Last Hero.

Lateralus is a great song no doubt, but it is in no way a great song for someone to just jump into without first being into Tool. Theres no way they can appreciate that song on one listen alone. Honestly they should do Vicarious or The Pot. Those songs are absolute bangers that can be appreciated immediately.
@TopSpeedKertus6 жыл бұрын
gnarkilleptic haha why do you think that? The only reason I can think of is that you're leaving out the context of the album as a whole, it being a story and all, but that's sort of the case with all their work. I'm sure they've explored tool a bit since 46 and 2, which that alone is enough to appreciate the rest of their work.

Hey Ryan George. My names Chris. I love this video and this Chanel.this song really reached me ... A few week's ago I lost my little brother to suicide and it was one of the hardest things I ever had to go trough. He was my best friend. He suffered from depression for a long time and lost the fight when was 15....I've been listening to Breaking Benjamin. Angles fall. And it helped me see how he felt towards the end and how he was suffering alone.. I hope that you will do a reaction review to this song not for me, but in the hopes that someone might see and know that they do not suffer alone, and that there are people there that love them and will walk them trough the darkness

From what I understood, they are ex-members from Creed, and I wrote 'em off...whether that's true, or not, I've gotta readjust my perspective now, and I couldn't be more thankful to you guys, and Todd, for this video! What this video tells me, is you guys are gonna really dig some of the stuff that comes from Power, and Symphonic Metal.
