Myles Kennedy is one of the greatest living rock vocalist. No question. Alter Bridge is also one of the best live rock bands I have ever seen. They sound just as good on stage as they do on an album. Sometimes, they sound better live. Great review and I'm truly looking forward to seeing the full live show from RAH.

The States need to give these guys their due, they are a Monster in Europe but unfortunately here in the U.S. they get zero airplay or respect (except by their loyal fans). Myles is the best rock vocalist of the past 20 years and Mark is second to none on the guitar. Anybody that thinks this band is Creed part 2 is a fool!!! Alter Bridge is the best, most consistent band and IMO the band that sets the bar in Rock and Metal today.

Full disclosure, I decided when this band started that they were Creed 2.0 never listened to anything they put out cuz I didn't want to hear another Creed.. Something about combining the orchestra with the modern sound of metal always hits a spot for me. You get these hard sounding riffs and the subtle way that the other strings of the violins help emphasize the mood of the core song was great. I personally gotta give props to the guy on the xylophone looking instrument cuz he was holding like 4 sticks hitting several notes and shit making me look at him like "HOW YOU DO THAT???" lmao great live performance from Alter Bridge and dope reaction fellas.

As usual they knock it out of the park (I am with George tho, I miss the 'Fortress coming down' part in the chorus but I imagine that shit is hard to sing and play at the same time). This was shot in London and in the UK they are a big deal, it's crazy that they don't get as much love in their homeland, USA, the music industry must be pretty bad over there from the little bits I've heard. Not all of their songs are epic haha, they do simpler songs that are still catchy as hell with great musicianship, vocals and catchy-as-hell choruses. Love it nice one guys!

Holy shit!! I'm blown away!! Just when I thought Alter Bridge couldnt impress me more, they CRUSHED it!! I'm a big fan of Alter Bridge and I think Myles Kennedy and David Drayman of Disturbed (please, more DISTURBED!) are two of the best rock/metal singers out there! I had the pleasure to see and hear Myles & David sing a few songs together and I was floored! While Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti are given greatness, the guy that is so underrated is their bassist, Brian Marshall!! He is DOPE AF on those bass lines, and being a big fan of bass, I think he ranks up their with Geddy Lee (Rush), Chris Squire (Yes), and Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers). Brain's bass list are SICK and really give depth to their sound. Brain just took it next level on this performance and it was probably sadly missed by some of those attending. George, the reason the music didnt drowned out the vocals here is that Myles has such a powerful voice he could be heard over hurricane!! I've heard this song many times off the album, but I am so grateful you guys played the live version!! It was FUCKIN' EPIC!! Ryan & George, in all sincerity, I just love how you guys are so open and so knowledgeable of music in general and how you get so excited when you hear musical and vocal greatness, no matter what the genre. I love rock, metal, hip-hop, rap, country and blues and I can tell you that when you keep an open mind, the world of music, as well as the world itself, becomes special. I love you guys for making me appreciate, even more, the music I know and you have introduced me to artists I didn't know. You guys are special to me for that gift. Yeah, Brian is always overlooked. I grew up down the street from his parent's house, but I was only like 8-10 years old when he went away to college (where he became a founding member of Creed by the time I was in high school). HIs parents were really nice because they let me and my friends use their basketball goal to play basketball all the time. I also remember Creed being big at my high school because everyone found out he graduated from the same high school. It is a vague memory, but I remember one summer I was at his parent's house with a friend shooting hoops and I am pretty sure he was home for the summer, but he was in the garage practicing his bass guitar. I am pretty sure I met him and said "hi" and all that but I was super young and Creed wasn't even a thing yet (this was probably during the formative years of Creed I assume). All I knew at the time is he was the Marshalls' son who was home from college for the summer.

8:11. It’s a short list for modern hard rock but Alter Bridge are at the top, make no mistake. It’s them, A7X , and the rest. But you could go back further into the roots of modern hard rock, to find different artists.. The sound from Candlebox’s 1993 album predicts a lot of what became the modern rock genre in the 2000s. I’d say check out “You” or “Far Behind” as a real reaction. Great songs.

Goodfella actually that’s a pretty good call on Candlebox.

Yes. Love Candlebox!!!!!!!

Loki Bane Slash is phenomenal. And I would add the Conspirators to be another top current modern rock band. GNR were the zenith of classic hard rock though - taking elements of 60s/70s, blues, punk, metal, folk, and blending into one with Les Pauls and Marshalls fully cranked. UYI does have a more modern production quality however.

Jennifer Delp Candlebox - Don’t You and Change sound ahead of their time, IMO
@rafaelbarbosa22016 жыл бұрын
If you think about Puddle of Mudd, Nickleback, Fuel, etc. the soft/heavy power chord driven anthems, slick modern production... I can see traces of that first Candlebox album for sure.

Myles is incredible. He has said in interviews that he suffers from tinnitus (ring in the ears). How does he do it????? He gives credit to the technology in his ear piece, but really he is too modest. Love him.

I love how this band if finally getting some much deserved love. Your videos always make me smile because I have been on this bandwagon since before day 1 (I remember waiting for their first album to release back in high school). Their shows are more than worth it too btw.

I have seen them live 4 times now and they’ve been incredible each and every time. They are the nicest guys as well, can’t recommend their concerts and their whole discography enough.

You should listen to "The End Is Here" from the official youtube audio from this concert. It is outstanding and really combines them with the orchestra well. Also agree on the missing "Fortress Coming" backing vocals in the chorus. The chorus loses something without it.

Also from their performance at The Royal Albert Hall, you guys have to check out "Words Darker Than Their Wings" - Myles probably smashes one of the highest notes I have heard from a live performance. Kennedy and Tremonti are the tastiest guitarists you are likely to hear, mixed with Kennedy's amazing vocal ability and range. Alter Bridge is just way better than any other alternative rock band out there!!

I just watched the concert and was completely blown away. It's the best thing I have ever heard. There were parts that made me cry. Broken Wings was the main culprit for me crying. The interaction with the crowd along with the orchestra was beautiful. Please check out the version of Broken Wings from this show. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Had the pleasure of seeing Alter Bridge way back in 2005, I've also watched a lot of their live vids. They bring it like this every damn time. Always great energy, always spot on performances. You asked who are the upper tier rock bands around today and they're certainly one of them. They're actually underrated I think. Which I know seems ridiculous when they pack houses like this, but average people are mostly unaware of them. And they're probably the best live band of the bunch, one of the best period in my opinion. They've also had the staying power that only a small handful of rock bands today have. Breaking Benjamin would be another one, maybe Three Days Grace (meh) and honestly it's hard to think of any others of note. Most mainstream friendly rock is so uninspired these days.

This is how i always imagine this song in my head; there's a castle somewhere, a Fortress, kind of like Minas Tireth from LOTR. The lords of the castle look out onto a large, open plain, and see a massive army staged around for miles and miles outside on the plain (the buildup to the solo). Then, the battle begins (the solo), and then afterwards, the quiet part, is the King looking amidst the wreckage of his Fortress. Then, the ending part, is him giving one last battle with his own sword, and being defeated. This song to me is like one gigantic movie piece in my head!

@@XavyDraven No Leaf Clover is the only reason to buy that album in my opinion. From what I remember, it's the only song not found on another CD and it's really good. Not too big on Metallica anymore though... I'll listen to the first 4 CDs every now and then but everything else is overdone
