My Dad passed away from a very aggressive brain cancer in June this year - sadly he was in his early 50s, and only lived a year after his diagnosis... But... he would have only lived a few weeks if it weren't for a cutting edge non-invasive laser surgery. Let me just say that having him for a whole year was very special indeed. He was able to be there for the birth of my first son, and we spent more time together than we have in a while. After his passing, almost suddenly, I found Alter Bridge... I wondered how on earth had I never knew about them before. I blew through all their albums in 2 months and now listen to them daily, as well as Tremonti. They've not only become my most respected and loved group, but they got me through a really really hard time. And my Dad would have absolutely loved them. This is the type of music we would ride around blasting on the road, eating burgers, and talking about life. I even had a dream recently where Dad was back from the grave, death defeated, and we were going to sit in 2 armchairs to catch up, and I couldn't wait to show him Alter Bridge. Then I woke up. Although it was just a dream, I can't help but believe deep down that I might have this opportunity someday.. I thank God for the time I had with my Dad, and I thank God for you Alter Bridge. I thought I knew all the great rock bands out there.. and then poof. I feel almost as if God somehow waited for a time as this so that I could find you when I needed you. Life is unexplainable, but that sure is the beauty of it.

Thank you. I always thought that the two best Alter Bridge albums were their first and Fortress. And when I heard this, it reminded me of Fortress; or at least a song that could have been included on Fortress. Their last two albums were throwaways. I was about to give up on them. This song gives me hope. We'll see. Their second and third albums were okay, but Fortress was such a leap forward. My hypothesis is that Mark's solo albums took away from Alter Bridge. His solo albums were excellent, by the way. But add in the Alter Bridge mixing, and I believe that AB's past two albums could have been legendary. Addendum: This song is over 6 minutes. It felt like it was only a couple minutes. That's when you know it is a good/great song.

Been a diehard fan since the first record. Love Elvis but haven’t loved the mixing work on Last Hero and Walk the Sky. This sounds MUCH better! Myles voice is crystal clear, punchy guitars and the drums sound as good as they’ve sounded since Fortress. Also love the choice to just go with an epic 6+ minute track as the first single. At the same time, I think both Myles and Mark have grown so much as musicians in their solo endeavors since then. Already, I can definitely hear Myles' guitar influence in this latest release-it's got an Ides of March vibe to it at times.

I've listened to this song a dozen times now at least and every time the first chorus hits I get chill bumps all over my body. I mean literally get chill bumps. Alter Bridge is plugged in for sure and always have been really. Blackbird was really tuned into the troops and their families fighting in Iraq. Fortress was foretelling the collapse. The Last Hero was telling of a hero fighting against the establishment. Pawn & Kings will be the people standing up and fighting back. Every single one of these albums were released before the events unfolded, almost prophetic. It's crazy. I love these guys. Best damn band on the planet and so under-appreciated.

People say they didn’t expect less, but I was skeptical. I’m a die hard AB fan with the good ol Blackbird tattoo. This song is absolutely beautiful. This chorus evoked emotion in me that AB hasn’t evoked in the last two albums. I am so excited. They are back baby!!! ❤️ “And all of the hope that it brings, and though we’re pawns we could be kings” “the last shall be first, give it time”. Amazing. So much hope when we needed them most.

This gets my super excited about the album. WTS was decent, but I never really got excited about the album. This feels has Fortress vibes to me (which is great). No offense to everyone's side projects, but this really shows that the whole is better than the parts. I like Tremonti, Slash is decent, Myles' solo stuff has a few good tracks, and Projected has been pretty decent, but AB is that sweet spot.

I like the Fortress-like song structure of this song... not the 3 minute songs they released on Walk the Sky. Walk the sky sounded like a bunch of guys made an album on dropbox... which is what it was basically. I have high hopes for this album, just preordered the autographed record. Now for this song, I was waiting for the killer "blackbird" type guitar solo and some soaring highs from Myles, yet it didn't happen. Hopefully it will grow on me

Man, this song is sick. It has everything that is and has always been great about Alter Bridge. An incredible hook and vocal. Heavy main riffs, a great solo section. I cannot wait for the whole album!!
