this is hilarious! i worked at TJ's for 12 years at store #60 in concord, calfornia....i sustained a serious back injury and lost my position...best job i have ever had! the back injury threw me knee deep into art...the silver lining! my handsome hubby, Rob, has been with TJ's for the past 6 years....gotta love Trader Joe's....right? send me images of your [e-mail] i would love to see what you are doing! see you on the table!!! I worked on my background with the water crayons at the nursing home while visiting my Dad. I didn't have any clear gesso with me so I just did it on raw book pages. (BAD IDEA) it soaked into the paper and made it a mess. I will gesso all pages so they will be ready for anything in the future. (Im always learning;)

This turned out so adorable. I can imagine possibly doing this on a flat substrate as a piece of artwork using the photo of a special grandchild perhaps? Using some memorabilia from their childhood in the background. I love the butterfly wings, don't imagine that would be an easy piece of art to find? Love it. Gotta try it. I love this video. I have all those supplies and I needed a use for them. The little butterfly fairy was so cute and using white gesso to give her a ‘glow’ was genius. Your simple doodling is lovely. Love, as usual!!! When I add some ephemera, not sure why different paper types react differently, after a minute or two, some bubbles form. I don't mind wrinkles, either but bubbles can interfere with additional layers. I poke those with a pin, then rub, the air escapes and Voila!, a nice flat layer. YaYa!!

what is the difference between mod podge and gesso?

modpodge is a glue....gesso is a primer paint....modpodge dries clear....white gesso....well...lol...is white... go play!!!

The neocolors are pricey! I enjoy using Crayola Twistable Slick Sticks that work very much like the neocolors. I use baby wipes to spread the color.
