Preparing for the day... underpants (1st layer), petticoats for the (2nd) layer, dress-up (be it denim or lace) for the (3rd) layer, adornments for the (4th) layer, cape, hat, outerwear to go out in the world for the (5th) layer. I could add other layers to chose from to dress for the day but underpants always a must no matter what time of day. Underpants for covering and protecting our altered books. Does it matter the thickness of the fabric? Maybe I used too much gesso...it bled through the fabric in blobs so I have no circles...I will try it again lol

Ive never done this before so I got a book yesterday. Still trying to find some magazines. Do you still need to take pages out if the book is only about 1/2 inch thick? It does have separate signatures though.

you might want to remove some of the pages just because the pages get so overcrowded....it is hard for me to say for sure without actually seeing the book tho lanafalana....so start near the center and remove pages from the ends...later if you need to! yay...go play!

I love this work, but really cannot see the point in putting down stuff then covering it, over and over. I have never been able to grasp this, not your fault, mine. I can understand that it would give depth, but after the bubble wrap and finishing layer, the underpants are totally lost, along with the next layer up, so what is the point of doing this? I am not criticizing, I am asking. No one has ever explained this. Great video though, and love the finished piece.👍👍👍

oh i am so glad you asked burrumgirl! i will talk to you a little bit about the 'underpants'...the many layers of this and that...energy my burrumgirl...energy....playfulness...and texture..if you hold a page that has no 'underpants' and you hold a page with 'underpants'...the difference is amazing...and why to do we create? to have fun...to play...to build something did not exist before...so...i spend a bit of time with each page...listening to how much energy it can handle...i hope this answers your question..and i did not feel criticized at all...thank you....see you on the table...
