The bride wanted a certain style so I decided to take the plunge and alter the dress to fit maternity! Where I purchased this dress to be made with custom measurements: www.azazie.com My Dress shop: www.etsy.com/shop/thetailoret...

So beautiful! I love the way the dress turned out. I wish I had known how easy it was to alter bridesmaids dresses...I could have saved myself a lot of hassle if I'd just opened them up. 😆 Congratulations on the upcoming little one!

What size dress did you order? I'm super stressed. i'm normally a size 2 but will be 7 months pregnant for the wedding and they have no maternity options in her color and in the fabric she wants. I don't think a size 10 in a regular dress will be enough for the waist, so how many sizes did you go up to ensure your belly would fit? Thank you in advance :)

I want to say there’s a certain amount of inches you grow each month in comparison to when you started off your pregnancy. I winged it and got a little bigger than I anticipated and I adjusted my size down accordingly. But, one big thing to note is I order my dress off of azazie which does custom sizes. My bust was significantly smaller than my waist hip ratio so the custom measurements helped a ton. I literally put in 38 waist and 26” bust or something. Which is radically off to a regular size chart 😆 If you go into a bridal shop, they will tell you which size to order in a regular size if you can’t do custom. Biggest thing is to get a dress that doesn’t have a thick waistband… local alterations shops won’t alter those, but other dresses they will.

@@thetailorette so the 38inch waist was too big then right, since you had to pull it in? I’m think 8inches more than my normal waist is. What do you mean by a thick waistband?

@@mallorysplace303 if you order a dress that has a higher waistline (just under the bust) the waist can fit easier in a small size than a 10. I’d go in and try different styles with a fake belly bump (most bridal shops have those to try on with). Here’s a good article on buying a bridesmaid dress for maternity www.weddingshoppeinc.com/blogs/weddings/pregnant-bridesmaid-dress-shopping-mmz

@@mallorysplace303 also, this is a thick waistband www.azazie.com/products/azazie-bonnie-bridesmaid-dress?color=dark-navy this will guaranteed not work. This one has a higher waistline with no waist band and has more room in the belly area www.azazie.com/products/azazie-kaleigh-bridesmaid-dress?color=burgundy
