Great job!!! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Appreciate the illustration of a dual identity, ONLY next time, use Bruce Waye and Batman not Peter Parker and Spiderman. You're a skilled teacher. Thanks again.

Hi, I am not a SharePoint developer but still I found it very good. I am facing a issue, is it possible to redirect one Url(public) to local url without user even noticing it. i want to make public url site down for maintenance but I want user to access replica of it which is installed as intranet site.

I have a small objection here with respect to Internal URL. U r saying that internal URL changes to Public URL in the browser.... But actually, the internal URL remains as it is.. Justification : You have a site collection for training dept. team sharepoint.eu.company.com/Sharepoint, and the project manager for Sharepoint training wants a site called training.com/Sharepoint. To achieve this, first create an internal URL called training and add a binding in IIS site then add a DNS entry and map it to SP server IP address. So that whenever a user types short url in browser, it should remain as it is for better readability. But the way you have made this tutorial is awesome, excellent. We all are waiting for you further lessons.

Your point is quite valid, if reverse proxy is not configured. I found a microsoft page "technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc261814(v=office.12).aspx" which says "If the Forward the original Host header option is selected, the public hostname also serves as the internal hostname when configuring alternate access mapping.". Good observation (infact very practical)..

+Jawad Mohiuddin You have pointed out what so many overlook when explaining these! You cannot simply add a internal uRL after binding in IIS you still must add an entry to DNS or access using a hostfile entry on your client! smh jawad you just dont know how much you made my day thanks!
