hmm I think this situation would be one of the rare time I would turn on my party. I cant imgaine playing a campaign where I am not supporting Raistlin. I am pretty sure Raistlin would eventually figure out how to repopulate Krynn.

Very cool! I forgot that there was a game book designed for this alternate timeline, that's awesome. I think if Raistlin had gone through with it, he wouldn't have lived over a lifeless world forever. Krynn would have remained doomed, yes, but I think he would have been able to travel to other planes and worlds. He basically did that by finding other worlds and eventually Krynn that Takhisis had stolen away in the War of Souls and that was before having the power of the gods.

Thanks for this, I didn't realize there was so much more information on this timeline beyond the novel. Want to stop Raistlin? What if Chaos was freed during the events of the Hourglass in the Sky? You didn't say how to stop Raistlin and save the world, of course whoever wins I suspect Krynn will be little more the cosmic rubble.

Whoa if chaos was released after Raistlin started killing gods and became strong enough to stand against him…. That’s a great thought experiment.

Very nice, I'm so glad my recommendation was turned into a video, hope there will be more alternate Krynns and next generation characters. One of the only ways I can think of to get rid of Raistlin would be to use the Greygem to either destroy him, restore the gods or maybe increase the good aspects of Raistlin turning him into more of a god of balance who would restore the world. Or maybe somehow call on the High God for help since I'm pretty sure he is the only deity who could overpower Raistlin in such a state.

@@DLSaga Good point. Raistlin always did have a soft spot for those mistreated because of their appearance or disability. He'd probably be friends with Tyrion Lannister if he ever wound up in Westeros.

Raistlin and the war in heaven is such an integral part of the Dragonlance mythology. I could never understand why killing a God would cause the destruction of the world itself. It always felt like a cheap trick to prevent him from attaining what was rightfully is. How does one rightfully become a God? But having the ability to defeat one. If you can be defeated are you truly a God at all?
@DLSaga Жыл бұрын
They talked about absorbing the power of the god you defeat, much like the dragon purge in the fifth age. It doesn’t make sense, but it’s fantasy…

I always did wonder what the Highgod was doing during all of this. The only way that Raistlin's destruction of all the gods made sense was if: (1) the Highgod invested all his powers into his children, leaving little for himself, making him easily destroyed (2) the Highgod was actually Chaos, which was what I think Weis/Hickman intended to say in Dragons of Summer Flame before Hickman decided to re-retcon that fact Hard to say. The Highgod seemed to be featured more in the modules/gaming materials than the actual books, and that's probably for a reason... Weis/Hickman may have found his presence/absence hard to explain. I can't actually remember the Highgod behind mentioned in those books at all, come to think of it. Perhaps Raistlin found the Greygem and was able to siphon off Chaos' power while keeping Chaos contained and trapped. Anyway, these are my rationalizations!

They never fully contextualized the high god/Ionthas (chaos) dynamic till the War of Souls.
@foolsby Жыл бұрын
@@DLSaga Well, I liked Reorx acknowledging Chaos as "Father" or the "All-Father" when the Greygem was broken in DOSF. I liked the metaphysical dynamic of the children-versus-their father/creator that this created. I think it was in a War of Souls appendix that Hickman retconned that Reorx moment, claiming that Reorx was mistaken in what he said, and that Ionthas falsely claimed to be the Highgod. My take was that the devout Mormon side of Tracy Hickman felt uncomfortable about having a chaotic (versus lawful) creator, even in this fictional universe, so he convinced Weis to let him recon things in this appendix, years after DOSF. Granted, this interpretation is wildly assumptive and probably wrong, but it's just my personal explanation for why such a needless reconning took place. Thoughts?

I made a Dragonlance game where you ended up banishing the hourglass god. The idea was that it was set in 3 time with 3 sets of characters all converging on the tower of the hand. Which was made to look this a 40 foot for arm and hand reaching out of the ground or is it. The villains were a mummy king priest a zombie toode the lich of fistindatalus the banshee that huanted sloth and leading them all an death knight kitara that ended sloth. The idea was that on a night of the eye each God empowered magus dalamar or Palin with the book of first magic the first dragon orb or the staff of magus so all 3 had the 3 orders tied as one spell. Palin with the orb powered by Lunitary, Magus with the staff powered by Nunitary and Dalamar with the book powered by solinaryq

@@DLSaga Nah , I believe that Weiss and Hickman know more than fantasy, lol. They have actual Arcana in the story line; more than in the one instance afore mentioned. Dragonlance is Spiced with the ARCANE and Esotericism, you just have to know what your looking for in the field of Occult Science's...I know, I am also a practioner/protagonist. You don't just randomly come up with that kind of Numerology without thought and calculations. Ppl also said H.P.Lovecraft was just another Horror novelist, But if you read deeper, he was the True definition of an Occultist, one who knows secets/, mysteries and that which is *(hidden) or Occult.... And, his grandfather was a Mason, btw.. Cthuluhu Mythos is a prime example of horror/fantasy based on Esoteric Cuneiform tablets from ancient Sumeria....
