Love to see your tool box I bet it’s full of poundland stuff😂 me sons got better stuff than you and he’s only 10 😅. I think you need to be thinking about a career change mate coz you ain’t gonna make any money repairing motors🤣I hope for customers sake your charge per job and not per hour

Let's see a video of your work on the road, or any work, no, didn't think so. At least we know what's in your toolbox, NOTHING, keyboard warrioring at it's finest. There used to be a kids programme on TV, think one of the characters was kermit ...............................

Back in the day, throwing a scrappy alternator on your car yourself was standard and one of the easier of jobs. How times have changed.

I changed an alt on the same car leon is working on took me about 40min and I'm not even a mechanic I'm a gardener!

My wife has just said 'he sounds like you doing a job' 😅 that's because I work for Vauxhall. To do this job you need to drop the wheel arch liner and with the tensioner removed the engine mount can be removed.

Love watching these and why i advocate schools encourage pupils to become mechanical engineers, it used to be a simple job but im glad ive got a mechanic to do these jobs. Love your vlogs

Working in a kerb is twice as difficult than in a workshop i allways charged extra but avoided like the plague

Pull the tensioner down on the nut, then push a split pun through the hole to lock in position while you feed over the new belt.

Thank you Leon, another one too put on the do not touch list, along with anything with oil cooled alternator, Dacia sanders starter motors and anything that's got carbon build up under oil filter cap. Thank heavens I'm now semi retired so can pick and choose my jobs Cheers all Dai

If you push then tensioner to the max on these they lock out. You can flick it back once all in place.

It should be a requirement that people who designed all this stuff should have had many years of experience in fixing vehicles. Then everything would be easy🤔

I've just done one on a mercedes w203, same issue, only had to replace the voltage regulator at the back, but somebody decided to put an engine mount right behind giving no wiggle room for a ratchet. A right shit when your only 7mm bit is a long one.

I had to watch alot of videos before i did this job on a turbo encore. Was still difficult getting alternator out from the bottom and getting it back in. But i did get it done. Ectotec did not beat me.

It’s just a simple alternator job 😂
@spawntohell8 ай бұрын
"stay in school, do not be a mechanic like" :)) hmmm in corsa b and c is far easier to achieve taking engine mount out... and the tensioner has like a locking pin which makes it easier to install or remove but... i only found out myself after one fell a part and the spring dissapeared in the air... but when i bought the replacement had the pin top lock it.... things are far better when not on the streeet in the cold and raining... fairplay to you for showing the reality and not a cut video that makes it look far too easy...

I take the Engine + box out and back in less than 2 hours at home on my own. Try doing a 2014 Audi A3 2.0tdi alternator 6 1/2 Hours you have to take complete front end of radiators fans the lot to get 1 bolt out. I felt like I’d been dry bummed fucked all day doing it

Anyone on the spanner’s can relate to having days/jobs like this it’s almost like a Gordon Ramsey switch has been flicked 😂 biggest thing that boils my p1ss is knowing that you’ve bought a tool or tools to do a job but don’t have them with you 🙄 working outside in the elements is never easy
@theadventuresofjavier86988 ай бұрын
Wow Some of the ford escapes with the 3.0 you need to remove the cv axle to access the alternator. . College educated engineers 🤬😡🤬😡🤬
@iboswell8 ай бұрын
Tell me about it, the RHD versions at least. First remove wheel, suspension, plastic liners, axle and then you actually see the alternator. Then by feel remove multiple bolts etc and reassemble. Sadly, I am an Engineer! Make very sure you buy a decent quality one as you really don't want to repeat that... Edit to add the power steering pump is also something to enjoy doing....

They deliberately design cars like this. I dare say even at a dealer it'd be pain let alone on the street. There should be a right to repair law that cars have to be designed for ordinary people to able able to carry out repairs like this. I am not a mechanic but you can see over the years the designs are making it harder and harder for people to have a go themselves, that of course is their plan, take it to the stealer and get completely fleeced. They will of course design a stealer tool in the process to make it slightly easier but not by much, respect. I am still trying to get the clip that holds the clutch elbow joint from the slave on an insignia to stay in and not pop off, any tips welcome.
