Pam Duthie Merlin was my soul mate. He lived to be 17 and I’ve never met a dog like him since. He was definitely one of a kind!!

Your doggies are so sweet and smart. It’s amazing how different the same breed of dogs are. They’re just like people.

That's so true. Border collies can be so different from one another. Keegan was bred as a working dog, but he is better with sheep than with bird control - he is careful and tries not to push too hard. Sprite on the other hand was an amazing bird control dog - she was a bit pushy which is kind of necessary with Canada Geese. But she had excellent recall. A lot of her attributes were just the way she was. We have to train the dog in front of us and not the dog we might wish them to be.

You know so much about dogs. They are lucky to have you

This is great advice. She is spot on, about every point she makes. They are all unique, and require a tailored approach. I just want to add that if your dog is "running" your life, you're not meeting its physical/mental needs.

Thank you. My beautiful four year old collie was badly injured by a large dog when he was five months old. He was in a cast for six weeks and has a crooked leg now, not to mention some of the trust issues and behavioral problems we deal with. Some days we come home from our walks so discouraged, especially if we pass another dog. Thank you for the encouragement!

I wasn’t expecting to get this emotional! Really loved this video, and your message. My little rescue collie is a special dog and has really had to learn to trust me, and people in general, but when I look at how far we’ve come and what got us there, I have to agree with your secret ingredients 100%

It's many small steps that sometimes don't seem like much. But wow, when we look back, we can travel very far with our training! Awesome that you have stood by this special and very lucky little collie.

You are so spot on. They are all unique personalities. I have a 3 year old BC and she has taught me as much as I have taught her.

Thank you, yes such unique personalities and yes they do teach us so much! :)

Great video Janet. Loved it, especially the stuffed doggy analogy being the only one that doesn't change.

George Christofi thank you!! They are about the only “breed” that requires no training at all. 🙂 Perfect for some!

I’m not an expert with dogs. These videos are just awesome. I’m learning a ton of things and Aeon is incredibly learning even faster and more. Janet, you are the best.

I genuinely love this video!! I recently found out that my new puppy is a pit collie mix. I’ve owned pits before but this Puppy has been a challenge for me because the pits I’ve trained seem to want to please me and we’re always so focused. This new one is very distracted and it’s not as easy to keep him on track for longer periods of time. But im gonna be consistent with him. He’s family we love him.

I'm doing a video next about dogs that are easily distracted, so stay tuned! Good luck, it sounds like your pup is in good hands!

Not really an issue you should be having with a collie. They adore learning and doing tricks. You obviously need to work harder. If something is going wrong, it’s always the owner and never the dog. Also, you should just be training your dog to make sure it’s a well behaved happy dog, you shouldn’t be so focused on wanting your dog to please you. That’s weird, it’s not a slave.

One thing I’ll stand on a box and scream to all dog partners. CBD oil!!! It works.
@TheDogVlog4 жыл бұрын
Probably depends on the specific type/brand and the individual dog. My dogs have had good results with Zylkene, (or Anti-Stress Formula lactium) and also with a product called Calm K9. But I've known others who had great results with CBD.
