You have some brilliant ideas! I’m very impressed how you’ve modified an old lighter so that it’s still very useful and compact. There’s so much in there too I’ve seen a lot of these videos and most people don’t have half of this. It’s really great, thanks for posting and keep up the good work!

Overall it's a very good kit. I tend to tape my razor blades, needles, anything flat like that to the inside of the lid of my kit. And I never go without a mini Bic type lighter. I wrap dental floss around my lighter and sometimes include a needle, use a piece of electrical tape to secure it. I always like to carry a bright orange balloon, it can carry water and be used as a signaling device that can be seen by rescuers. For a whistle, I recommend you learn how to use your fingers and mouth to throw a loud, ear piercing whistle sound, then you can save a bit of room and not have to carry one. Really like your idea of the tightly rolled up length of wire. I generally have a larger coil in my Vanquest Huge or one of my Maxpedition Organizers. One thing I do on all my Survival Tins. Is I put on the outside lid or bottom of the tin but it absolutely has to be flat and smooth. I put the self adhesive reflector tape used on car bumpers or utility trailers, etc. I mostly cover the surface and you can use it in the dark to be seen by rescuers. You can fire your own light on it, if need be so it reflects. You can be seen in daylight with the balloon and mirror but this makes that possible at night.

hey you should make a video about your altoids survival tin
@dustin75622 жыл бұрын
I like to have a dedicated whistle but it is a small one. It's the Micro whistle from Wazoo survival the Nitecore titanium is also a good whistle that's small. For me where I live whistle is most important item even where I hunt South Carolina doesn't exactly have vast wilderness woods lol.

Nice clear video with good sound. Couple of points from my experience; without a shelter you have to spend several hours building one, that’s a big problem in cold wet weather; snaring and fishing are a waste of time in 24-48 hours; an Altoids tin has a useable water capacity of about 50ml so it will take 20 boils per litre, at about 6 minutes per fill, boil, and cool. That’s 2 hours sitting by the fire not able to do anything else, for just a litre. Assuming you don’t spill any. If you’ve never tried taking a little tin of boiling water off a fire, you need tough gloves. Carry Aquatabs.

You were like a magician; you just kept pulling stuff out of that Altoid's tin. Kinda fun to watch!

great content, well thought out, better than a lot of kits I've seen, I would make 2 or maybe 3 of the straws with cotton balls coated with vasalene, that way you could just open one end and light the whole thing, a couple water purification tablets, a survival blanket and a viplock bag under your duct tape, and add a paracord bracelet with a compass and ferro rod and a neck knife and I think you would be set for anything, but keep the videos coming

Really nice kit--well thought out! But PLEASE file the "mirror/CD" corners down a bit if you don't intend to use it as a cutting tool LOL. Maybe a water purification tablet if you can't boil in tin for some reason? I've used my Squirt for 10+ years now. Great choice. You're very creative--thanks for the video!

This has to be one the best kits i've seen in a while.. well done! did you include a compass? might have missed it.. also on the paper i would draw out a few snares on one side and maybe a map of sorts on the other side..
@thirdlawsurvival20114 жыл бұрын
I didn't include a compass because I know my directions around where I live and wanted to save space. Thanks for the suggestion about the paper, I will definitely use that.

Instead of the piece of CD, could you attach a larger signal mirror to the inside of the lid?
@thirdlawsurvival20113 жыл бұрын
Yes that woul also work, however at the time of recording I didnt have one :)

Hello; Obviously I'm late but; Very nice bit of kit, bit because of the size which is great, IMO. I think a small kit is more likely to be carried & thus more useful. A kit not carried will be of no value regardless of 'great' it is. Here's a few tips to help you improve your videos. SCRIPT: I can't tell if you're using a script but most people should. A script gives you a chance to go over your material & organize it. And to rehearse & also to minimize your language. LIST: Include a list of your kit's items. LINKS: Some people will have almost anything but others need to buy some items. Including links for all but the most common will help your views It could help you too if you include affiliate links. I mention this because I like your Fenix E01 but its not available on amazon, ATM. Hopefully helpful. Have a GREAT day, Neighbor! PS You might want to clean your hands, & nails, before videoing.
