It's reviews like these, and from other people who have never experienced Towers before, that reminds me of how special the place really is. Us, the people living within the UK, forget that it is a stupidly unique theme park. It isn't perfect, as you said, but it does get a lot right!

tbh as someone who has loved alton towers since 2012 i was really nervous for this review because i was expecting much worse and what taylor was describing in the review...i don't think that uk coaster enthusiasts even realise how amazing a park alton towers actually is, and how lucky we are to have it
@lpsftw85725 жыл бұрын
@@aidanstead6069 too true. I've only been to the place once, but ever since, I've been begging to go back because it's left such an impression on me. The themes of the rides, the staff, the themes of the sections of the park itself. To me, there's no place like it. I was so focused on the rides, I didn't even go to the gardens, which is a shame because it looks stunning. Hopefully I get to go back some time.

If you stay at one of the Alton Towers hotels you get access to Early Ride Time (ERT) which means you can enter at 9am, but unfortunately staggered opening still exists. If you go during the Halloween event called Scarefest the park stays open until 10pm (but there's no ERT). The park started doing staggered opening times ever since The Smiler accident in 2015 (where 2 girls lost their legs in the crash) I've personally got no idea why they have the staggered opening time since I don't think there's any use. Some say it's due to the increased safety checks before but why they don't just start earlier idk.

Welcome to Staffordshire, with its two major theme parks. Alton Towers and Drayton Manor Park. AltonTowers is situated in the Staffordshire Moorlands, which boarders both Derbyshire and Cheshire. Drayton Manor is situated in Mile oak Tamworth. Both parks have a combined visitor number of over 3.5million and are home to cbbies land (Alton Towers) and Thomas [the tank] land (Drayton Manor) with Alton Towers playing host to David Walliams World (which should have opened in 2o2 but put back until 2021) both are easily accessed via the m6 motorway. Both as you put it based in the middle of no where. Also covering a few of your points, Alton Towers does open later during peak times (school half term (April and October) and summer holidays (July and August) and also during its scarefest in October and fireworks season early November, which is when the park will close until march/April time the following year. For info when spin ball wizzes was made, Alton Towers had a contract with the owners of sonic the hedgehog video game and it was themed around that, which was not extended and so it now has no theme.

So many misleading things in this video (nothing against the video maker he did a great job these are just stuff that you might not know if you’re not used to it) 1) you can walk from the carpark to the entrance 2) the park doesn’t close at 4. The standard close time is 6. The park closes at 4 on week days out of main season but these days are so quiet you could ride everything twice. The latest close time during the year is at 9. And it’s pretty standard for all uk theme parks. 3) the tree height was put in place due to restrictions on them being in the countryside, to get around this a lot of coasters are built into the ground, ect: tnt was used to build the pits in nemesis. 4) a lot of theming is built with backstory so you kinda need to know some of the story’s to fully understand it. 5) SPINBALL WIZZER IS THEMED. RITA IS THEMED. 6) if you’re new to the park, please use the app for the map so you don’t get lost. Okay rant over this place is practically my home I had to fix some misconceptions

your wrong. the latest they open to is 6 at any time of the year apart from scarefest and fireworks when they are open till 9. There is an exception as Nemesis did stay open until 7PM in August for about a week to celebrate it's 25th birthday, but apart from that, no ride queuelines are open after 6. you can still get on the ride after 6 but you would have had to be in the queue before 6 because they shut it off at 6 so only the remaining people in the queuelines can ride before the ride shuts for the night.

To be fair have been there three times this Summer and twice it has been open until 7pm (as a last queue time)! If the park shuts at 4/5 its generally pretty quiet.

The opening times are a clever piece of marketing for the Resort, to make you believe you must spend more than a day there, being in a remote location- in one of their hotels

Anyone watching in 2020- they now close at 7pm and most rides open at 10. To Americans and anyone BUT British people, it may seem like it is in the middle of nowhere but it really isn't lol.

Worst place to build a theme park. Crap operating hours. Terrible car park paying system and maintenance. Personally when able to, I would go on the single rider que as it's less time and doesn't make a distance. It is a fair trek from the car parks but the monorail is grim and filthy. There's hardly any theming in the park which defeats the object of it being a theme park. The park is inconsistent in its layout and I don't get why they build a park around houses located in the actual park and when in the UK it is dark early, there are a lack of street lights on the car park and way in. The park seems to be very open and easy to hide in order to stay overnight. The idea of it operating on low hours makes it pointless and annoying. This is another way of them getting more money out of you.

Alton Towers is beautiful, I flew here from Newark on my partial Europe trip last year. It is very easy to get lost not only in the park but getting to it. As Taylor said this is not in a city it’s in the England countryside where a ton of trees lie. I loved the monorail ride, first of all if you want good views of some of their rollercoasters the monorail absolutely does a great job in doing so particularly the forbidden valley for coasters like nemesis. Second this park is obsessed with in the hall of the mountain king get ready to hear it and often. There theming is hit or miss obviously much better than your traditional cedar fair or six flags theme park. The rides that do hit have an incredible dark theme. Wicker man to me had the best theming there, walking through the queue watching the coaster completely surround you is great, along with wicker lying everywhere and Ima score nailed it again with the music. Seriously like half of my morning you tube playlist is listening to ima score coaster soundtracks.a few pieces of advice . Yes you need 2 days the 4 o clock closing is disappointing and you are literally marathoning your way around the park to get to all of the attractions, go to the rollercoaster cafe, tbh other then Disney that’s the first time I ate steak in a theme park and it was good the only joke is somebody’s dinner got stuck on the loop so me and a few English friends there were laughing it up. The food there was awesome. 3rd be careful driving to leave after dark because it is literally pitch black in the forest, and keep in mind we drive on the right they drive on the left. So it gets a bit crazy at night. Seriously though a must visit park for any enthusiast definitely want to come back really soon

You can get lots of rides done is a day, but its not easy to do, ive managed 16 with 2 rides on nemisis oblivion rita 13 galactica, 1 ride on spinball, and 3 on smiler (but i did have to use the fact that it wasnt a peak day to my advantage to get to the smiler queue before it opened, to pre queue for about 5 minutes, and use the single rider at the end of the day)

I went 3 year ago in late September. Schools had just gone back. We hardly had to queue for rides - in fact some rides were hed up waiting fo r us to board as we came down the steps. We had fast track tickets which didn't even get all the holes punched - just didn't need them. June / July / August - the whole world is there ... Sept - the park is half empty.

Ok :) firstly? Great review. I could’ve easily watched a 30min version of this. You spoke so easily about the park. Good stuff 👍 It looks like you went recently, so yeah. Between the end of May and early September, the place is packed. The walk from the main car park is around 10 minutes. So it is walkable and on some busy days, it’s quicker than queuing for the monorail. We usually go around March time when the park opens. Even when there’s a new coaster, you usually don’t have to queue that long if you get your days right, but you are correct. I’ve only worked all this out from going many times and yes: yes ALWAYS have a game plan, but we only go for the one day. And The Skyride was broken??!! Shocker....🙄😅 #alwaysbroken

Dude, you didn't mention the best bit! The story told in the Hex preshow is true - if you walk into the woods about 5 mins away from the park you'll find the oak tree and it's branches still chained up!
@dawiddadun30443 жыл бұрын
Certainly is true. I live in the village & first visited the chained oak as a young kid in the early 70s. Alot of people think it was a made up story to sell the ride & have no idea the tree is only minutes away as you say.

It's funny hearing an American talking about where Alton Towers is located. Everything here is in the middle of nowhere, whereas in the US most things are condensed into a small space. Ironic considering the size of each.
