Hey all.. I'm writing from Australia and I have run just over 180km in mine. I've also had the previous version and I remember running 16km the first time and seeing the outsole peeling off under my toe. I was horrified.. Needless to say, that outsole quickly wore down to expose the carbon under the toe off area. They are a fun shoe and I was able to run 2hr 34 in them in a marathon. The second release are sick and the first thing people say are, jeeze! Those shoes are loud!! The colorway is pretty dope. Pros : .. Looks, Feel, room, strong upper, fit, lockdown, fun and at first, real juicy to run in. Cons : The outsole has already started to wear down ( under 200km ) , The midsole has compressed quite quickly under the forefoot, it now has a fairly flat shoe feel. Especially being zero drop, you really feel it under the forefoot and toes. Price for longevity.. Kofuzi, you are absolutely spot on with the lack of snappyness.. They need to be a bit firmer and have a toe off like the Metapeed Sky+.. I also use the SC Elite 4 and they are an absolute joy to run in. Same issue though, not really a forward propelling shoe, but so comfy.. I've done 500km in those and only really starting to show significant wear.. If the Altra had that longevity ( even my Sky+ are on 800km and still going ) and ongoing comfort, they'd be a winner and a shoe that I'd own multiple pairs of. I do love them and I love the direction they are heading. Via Olympus weren't really that soft and harder than I imagined, but the 2 may be softer.. Another great video mate.. Thank you and good onya..

Cheers mate fellow Aussie here. Have been running with Altra's for some time now in lone peaks, torins and escalantes etc. Currently do all my trails in Lone Peak 7's and all my easy runs in Via Olympus 2's and love them both. I was considering the VC 2's for my race day 10k/21k shoe (and new training shoe) but the price, other reviews such as yours has made me consider finding another race day option now. I'm only running aroud the 5 min/k speed so all the top racers are too small and quick for me

Altra did something to the plate in the Vanish C v1 between when that shoe first launched to later in the model run. I read somewhere (letsrun, maybe?) that plates were cracking in the launch version, so they changed it. I know my first pair cracked under the big toe within 200 miles. Could have been a rock on a fire road that caused it, I don't know, but it snapped, and I ain't fast or powerful. That launch version was the fastest shoe I've ever worn and subsequent Vanish C's weren't nearly as fast, at least in my experience (1200 miles across 4 pair, which I bought deeply discounted). Since then, I went Adidas Adios Pro 3 for long tempos and never looked back.

Hey. The shoe feels great to be fair to it. They helped me run a 13k under an hour and 18k under 1 hour and 30 minutes. I felt a lift when running up hills and I felt comfortable running down hill. The only bad thing I can say about the shoe is first time out they can cut the back of your ankles. Other then that there isn't really anything wrong with the shoe, and it's great for wide feet.

I have both the first version of the Vanish Carbon and the Vanish Tempo, and (IMHO) the Vanish Tempo is the better shoe by a wide margin. I would hope the Vanish Carbon 2 could make the improvements on this shoe to be the top tier in their lineup.

Between the Vanish Carbon V1 and the Vanish Tempo, which shoe would you race a 10k, half and full marathon in? I have the Tempo but have been thinking of trying to Carbon V1.

@@AnonymousPeople0008 I would definitely go with the Vanish Tempo for a 10k, and even half marathon. It is a much more enjoyable shoe to run in and feels faster underfoot. (IMHO).

Daaaang. Mr Fuzi works hard even on a holiday weekend! No rest for the wicked I guess. 😁It's probably for the best you save the pricing info for the end of the video or you'd get no clicks. If Altra is trying to get more runners to try zero drop, pricing their product higher than the competition seems like a counterproductive strategy. Still. If I ever see it on the sale rack, I might be tempted to check it out... for the right price.

Hello, Mike. Great video as always! Sorry if my questions is out of the context. But i’ve read a rumour that said is it true Asics MetaSpeed Sky/Edge Paris only using FF Turbo + Foam on top layer of the midsole only? The bottom part is actually regular FF Turbo foam? Because some people had found out that both layer of the midsole foam are different materials, different softness & different durometer reading.

I wear altra as my daily trainers (currently torin 7 and via olympus2). As a forefoot stiker, having the same amount of stack throughout the shoe makes sense to me. I had the 1st version of these and really liked them. Unfortunately, I retired them a 235km due to wear. I can get the vanish carbon 2 for €163, are they worth a punt? Or should I stick with my current favourite, adios pro 3.

Wow so thankful you just posted this as I was looking for good information about this guy. Generally I love the Vanish Carbon 1 but also was shocked about the short lifespan. Now I think I will definately try this one when its on sale. Also thank you for the recommendations, just the perfect video for me.😊 One question: Can you recommend a shoe that has kind of a wider toe box like the Altras AND is a bit more firm/solid like you want your fast race shoes to be? That would be great!❤ Subscribed and looking forward to your next videos.👍

Interesting Review. As an Altra shoe customer, I can say from my personal experience is that Altra's shoes buildup & shape somehow makes you "depart from carbon plated shoes" altogether ( my feet cannot handle "rigid" carbon plated midsoles due to the adaptations gained by using Altra shoes- if that makes sense)

Ive ran 150miles in my version 1s after watching your r/v thank you! They have had it now and Im retiring them to parkruns after a last half marathon in them tomoz! Im just wondering whether its worth investing double the money-will I get double the mileage or should I just pick up another pair of version 1?
@jimjurek79115 ай бұрын
It uses a top tier PEBA and an asymetrically bending plate to actually allow your toes to dorsiflex which doesn't negatively affect the aerobic efficiency benefits, but is way more stable and comfortable for a marathon. Did you actually take it for a long run? It basically feels like the endo speed but performs like the elite. Selfishly, I am hoping everyone just sleeps on it though... id love to line up against nothing but vaporflys and metaspeeds.

If I may add my two cents here…the DN2 was and still is a very solid, versatile shoe. The new version seems to have some upper fit issues for some runners, and I think at this point this update may not be completely successful. We’ll have to see what experience Kofuzi has in this model.

@kofuzi Hi Mike, i posted this Q in the Run Club channel as well, but not sure you noticed it - the latest podcast epizodes stopped showing up in KZbin Music section of Kofuzi Run Club channel. Last one there is from mid June, newer ones are missing, i think it is because the podcast Playlist isn't updated. I'm missing these epizodes on my runs. Could the playlist be updated please?

there's an extra button that I have to push, but it can only be done after the fact. so it's something that I frequently forget to do. incidentally, monetizing the livestreams is also something that has to be opted into after the fact. Another thing that I discovered is that if a shoe is comfortable then the durability reduces in the same proportion.

I own both the Vanish Tempo and Carbon (version 1) and I can't tell any difference in feel. The only problem that I have with the Carbon V1 is the outsole wear. As these shoes and the Carbon v2 seems to have a rockered mid sole at front does it really matter if it is "zero drop"?
@weuek5 ай бұрын
The rocker starts before the 75% measurement point, so the shoe is not a zero drop design, according to WA rules.

The rock collector slots in the midsole and outsole is a big NO-GO for me. I literally broke a plate in a pair of $300 pair of PX2s due this kind of poor design. And for $260, I can buy a vastly superior shoe, the AP3. Sorry, I don't mean to sharing all this hateraid, but Altra has really REALLY gone downhill since the VF Corp aquisition, so I can't help myself.
