The country is on the right track for the last 3 years. It has handled Covid very well and shown 4 percent growth this year, which is quite good given the negative growth by many developing countries. Now, every macroeconomic indicator is showing a positive trend and it's a matter of few years when it will be going good. The country run by the socialist PPPP in the 70s and stupid nationalization policies. That party has ruled the country four 4 times and never delivered. Debt is a problem, but Pakistan's national debt to GDP ratio was under 80 percent, it might be around 90 now, but guess what it is less than many major economies, like India, China, the US, and Japan. In 70's nationalization destroyed confidence of entrepreneurs which led to lack of investment and huge public owned enterprises. In 80's came Zia and his economic minister with consumption based economic model. It worked but short lived. In 90's corrupt civilian govts, Nuclear test and again an economic crisis. 2000 came Musharraf using old unsustainable consumption economy, 2008 financial crisis currency devaluation increase in exports, 2013 came NS with his stupid Darnomics short lived consumption based economy. 2018 came Imran Khan but this time all stake holders realized that we can't grow with this model, so now back to real sustainable model for any low income country that is export led economic growth. During covid year economy growth was 4% with increase in exports of 18% and sharp increase in remittances.

My six senth says, Something is wrong
@mythbusterUSA3 жыл бұрын
@Aman Singh increase in exports and remittances isn't temporary, TERF $4B capacity expansion effect mean export will increase further at even fast rate. All low income country export start from exporting textile and agriculture products. Pakistan is trying to diversify its exports that is why govt is subsidizing other sectors. CPEC isn't a game changer. Particularly investment driven by populism like Gwadar which is dead investment. But it certainly helping us in developing major infrastructure. Yes terms and conditions are not very welcoming. But Chinese do understand that they have to renegotiate projects with its ally. US-China tension are good for CPEC. It is flagship for China. So China can't force its debt trap on Pakistan. Govt trying to invest in less develop area just to make sure everyone is happy but totally ignoring the ROI. There is realization among many member of ruling party. So they pushed for more investment in IT sector to increase service exports. There is 47% increase in IT exports last year. It can grow exponentially. On Other hand Local industrialist are expanding their production capacity which will help in industrialization and exports of goods. Chinese investors also shifting their industries in new SEZs. Manufacturing sector also help distribution of income as low skill workers work in manufacturing sector, unlike services exports sectors. Business sentiment is good. Still challenges remain including fast growth in population, slow privatization and other structural reforms.
@nabeel75973 жыл бұрын
@Aman Singh you are wrong get your research because it is investing in tech. Our IT exports have doubled in a year, under cpecs second phase they are going establishing IT zones and SEZ with industrialization as the primary objective. The reason you haven't seen major changes in Pakistan is because CPEC is nowhere complete and the first phase only attempted to link pakistan which they have done tremendously( speaking from personal experience) the real fate of CPEC will be decided in the coming years

One quick point you forgot about pakistan economic policies before 1965. East Pakistan use to be their export hub but all the money use to be spent on West Pakistan. @@ranatalukdar7712 Yes, country like the Pakistan, investment must be from China only since other countries lack the cash and cow to do this, even though they are rich (with cash and without the adequate tech cow). So, debt or investment from China is way better than others forms of debt with no specific goal. CPEC has a goal which China must make it successful for its own sake. Pakistan's 2021 fiscal year (July 2020-June 2021) GDP growth rate is expected to reach 3%. Previously, the Pakistani government predicted that the GDP growth rate for this fiscal year was 2.1%, and the GDP growth rate predicted by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank was 1.5%.Under the COVID-19 epidemic, Pakistan can still achieve economic growth. The argument for questioning China-Pakistan economic cooperation is not only unqualified but also naive. It is a sour grape mentality. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is the flagship project of China-Pakistan Economic Cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative. The Chinese government attaches great importance to this project. More than 10,000 Pakistani technicians are currently receiving training in various projects in China. Let’s comment on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in 3-5 years. .

Whomever takes control of the mountainous LOC between India, Pakistan and China will have a strong tactical advantage in both defensive and offensive manouveres.
