Very Cool Tom! 😝👊🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪 Thats Awesome a Splash and Go Series.😎🤘 The Chief is Going to Get a Suprise!😂🤙 it's funny how many Chiefs can't Sharpen a Knife. I love your Info and Conversation during your video's. More info from Altstone on the differences in these 2 series would be interesting Tom.👍

@@jasonedwardledburynewzeala9897 I have several strops, I am a sharpening tool hoarder. lol My favorites are the Snake Eye Tactical Hanging strops I have. I took a chance on them and they are amazing for $14! Perfect thickness, excellent leather, etc. I will post a link to it. I actually love that Flexcut strop too, it works a treat even though it's thin. My Sharpal 8x3 strop is a great strop, and of course my Hutsuls and Beavercraft. Apparently I just like them all? lol My "cherished" strop is my Jende industries 8x3 Nanocloth strop with 0.5 Poly Diamond emulsion, love that thing!

@@jasonedwardledburynewzeala9897 I know that if the edge is done properly, you can cut paper towel on nearly any grit, but sometimes the edges don't cooperate with certain stones i've seen, but this was excellent and as you saw, I was quite surprised! I do have a Chosera 1k, and the Glass and Pro 1k sounds like a fun test!

I appreciate the support! I got you subbed as well, good stuff. The RIN series Splash n Go are great, but the FUKAMI are as well. RIN are currently not in the States just yet, but ALTWAYS just restocked some Amazon stock of their FUKAMI line.. the 300, 1k, and 5k are up at the moment. If you like Suehiro, you're gonna love those! I noticed the higher grits, 3k, 5k, and 8k didn't really need soaked. I did for 5ish minutes anyway, but I believe it could be splashed. Thanks again, got you entered in the giveaway!

@ thank you so much for the info! Definitely Suehiro is a great brand but some of their series are kind of expensive… definitely worth checking this out, cheers mate!

@ My pleasure! I don't know if you watched my FUKAMI series, but in that I explained that ALTWAYS is a distributor for Suehiro, and they are one of the only, or at least very few companies that sell the Suehiro Maido stone (stupid expensive).. Anyway, they have a serious relationship with Suehiro, which is why I am pretty certain these are essentially mini Cerax and possibly Mini Debado, but tweaked. Many conversations with the company revealed that they strive to be a big player in the industry and want to be recognized like the top companies. They strive to make a "true to grit" rating product that maintains smooth feel and excellent performance, while maintaining excellent wear properties.

Same here, I am seriously excited for the 10k! I love them all, don't get me wrong, but I love a nice high grit polish.

i would love to see the edge under microscope in comparison with stone brands that are known for correct grit ratings. to see the scratch pattern or polish on those higher stones. when i hear cheap high grit stone, i think grit contamination or incorrect grit ratings. so maybe comparison to shapton kuro and cerax in same grit rating?

also jump from 3k to 10k is gonna be really huge jump...and even 3k is too high a grit for soft german steel

@@miroslavkuric8603 I actually plan on progressing the edge from 3k to either 5k or 6k, maybe 8k, and then 10k. I would be glad to do an edge comparison under the microscope between known grits. I will do that this weekend!

Nice vid hoping they price them reasonable for us hear in the US

My assumption is right around the same price as their FUMAKI line (same thig essentially, FUKAMI is a soaking stone, albeit short soak, but RIN is harder, while retaining the smooth sharpening ability as FUKAMI). Those start around the $24 range and the 8k FUKAMI is like $49 I believe. Thanks for watching!

So, from what I saw, the conversion of JPY to USD, the 1000 RIN Splash N Go (they do have a soaking type, but they are phasing them out and when gone, they are gone) is $17 USD. Now, that is Japanese currency conversion, so I would assume that when it goes on sale in the US it will probably cost around the same price as the FUKAMI series. The 10k is $40 USD converted from JPY, so great prices! I am also looking forward to the 10k stone, I need a step between 3k and 10k , I will add FUKAMI 5k or 8k most likely. But I want to take he edge properly up the grit levels.

How does this whetstone compare with some other splash&go whetstone like naniwa, shapton or debado?
@DroneShotFPV
@DroneShotFPV 13 күн бұрын
So this whetstone, ALTSTONE is Manufactured by Suehiro, and is sometimes referred to as "small Cerax", so the performance is on a similar level, but I have what feels like better experiences with them as far as speed and feedback goes. I have heard of issues with the Cerax 3k, or at least the 1k/3k combo stone, but the ALTSTONE 3k is a great cutter and excellent step in the polish phase / setup. These seems to cut faster than my Naniwa Super Stones, and the 300 is definitely faster than my Chosersa 400. The Chosera 400 grit pattern is obviously a little less "rough" than the 300 ALTSTONE, but I can take off way more metal faster with the ALTSTONE 300 and refine that pattern with the 1k easily. The Debado, honestly I can't say because I don't have a Debado sadly, and I need to remedy that as I have always wanted to grab a couple. As for Shapton, there are similar feels to the way it cuts and glides on the stone to the Glass series, and the feedback is nice and snappy like the Glass series. I did a complete serie son the ALTSTONE Fukami line, which is basically the same as RIN, just a short soaking stone instead, and the higher grits compared favorably to Shapton in the same way (feel, etc). I also gave edge closeups through each stone progression.

@@DroneShotFPV Thanks for response. This Altstone Rin 1000 looks very hard and not friable. Does it look to you that it is harder and less friable than shapton or naniwa?
@DroneShotFPV
@DroneShotFPV 13 күн бұрын
@@HariZica It is definitely harder and not friable. If I had to compare for sure based on that one session (I will do more for further results) I would say it's slightly better in that regard than my Shapton Kuromaku 1k, and right in line with the Shapton Glass / Rockstar 1k.
