Very nice review - super job on the bed platform! I've had the same canopy - replete with windows - on my '23 Toyota Tundra for the past ten months. It was installed at OK4WD along with Alu-Cab's LT-50 rooftop tent and Alu-Cab's 270-degree Shadow Awning. Kudos to OK4WD for their customer service. Last spring I did a 9,000-mile coast-to-coast trip with this setup and it performed superbly and remains rock-solid. Within a month or two after the install I did have some water droplets dripping in the canopy's front corners. Not sure where they came from. Haven't seen any water leakage since then but I live in the mid-Atlantic and we've been in a significant drought for the past several months. And I don't drive the truck every day.

Thank you for a detail video. Quick question. The hinges for windows and rear door are just a thick rubber strip, are they not ? And did you pay extra for insurance on shipping ? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for watching! The Alu-Cab website calls it a "Centre Flex Weatherproof hinge" and they appear to be rubber and composite, but maybe call OK4WD to confirm. As far as shipping, my buddy did not get insurance . He said they sent him multiple pics of the camper shell boxed in 2" corrugated cardboard and on a pallet. OK4WD told him if it wasn't in the same condition or if there were any concerns when he received it to just refuse the shipment and have it sent back. He said there was no damage, not even to the box, when he received it.

Hey! Quick question, are the Alu Cabs lockable from the inside? I’m a solo female camper and that’s one of the biggest hang ups I’ve run into while trying to find a camper shell.

@hannahtex6768 a great question! I do not believe they lock from the inside. A lock inside might present safety concerns, say if your vehicle caught fire and you needed to make a quick exit. However some sort of quick release latch from the inside might do the trick keeping you safe from intruders outside, but an easy escape out if needed. Thanks for bringing this up it's actually really important.

I also am a solo female camper and have this Alu-Cab Contour Canopy. It is does not have an inside lock or release -- major oversight, in my view. I have a rooftop tent on mine but also have a bed setup for the canopy. I have an idea for a way to secure the rear hatch from the inside that involves one piece of wood and two grooves and will get that done in '25. There are no doubt other possible solutions. I otherwise love this canopy. Looks great, is highly functional with the sides opening up, and is rock-solid on my Tundra. I also have the windows on mine.
