Hey, Frank. Can you believe that he lived kind of hidden in my town helped by common friends? Everybody in the country got surprised with the news about his death because nobody knew where he was. We were practically neighbors and I had no f**king clue!!!! Even a close coworker of mine was one of those who helped him. She was the one his wife called when she found him "sleeping" on the couch.

U know, bc of dictatorship at this decade. The MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) had theyr lyrics analyzed by the police. Thats why he talks that way in his songs, metaphorically!

Hello, Frank. This is my favourite Belchior song. Great reaction and comments. I recommend you to react to Noel Rosa who is one of the big names in Brazilian popular music. He was a master of samba, and he died so young, with only 26 years old, in 1937. He has writed more than 200 songs in that small carrer, and many of them are truly masterpieces of our music. You can find most of his stuff interpretated by artists of his time and nowadays; but there is some rare recordings by himself singing some of his songs. Big Hug, love your videos ✌🏾

From 1967 to 1974/1975, were the worst years of the military government in Brazil, in terms of repression of oppositors, and had strong censorship. From 1977 to 1985 the censorship became to be less repressing with music and movies. Some artists, like Raul Seixas, Belchior, Zé Ramalho and many others had to be very genious in that time, in the composing of the lyrics, to despite the censorship about their critics about the government in the songs, using all kind of metaphors and tricks with language.
