www.composimold.com The lost wax process is a method of metal casting that involves creating a mold from a master model, burning out the wax to leave a cavity, and then pouring molten metal into the cavity to create the final casting.
Here are instructions for casting aluminum using the lost wax process, with ComposiMold used to create the plaster mold.
WARNING: MOLTEN METAL IS HOT AND DANGEROUS
What You Need
• ComposiMold and Bubble Buster
• Wax-low melt soy wax or beeswax work well
• Cups/containers, paper towels, mixing sticks
• Microwave to melt ComposiMold and soy wax also melts in the microwave
• Plaster (Or ComposiStone)
• Tongs, bricks for a pad to pour over
• Safety equipment: heat resistant gloves, eye protection or face shield, fire extinguisher, ventilation, body protection
• Oven to heat up plaster, a butane/propane torch is also nice
• Furnace that can get to high enough temperatures for the metals your using
• Crucible
• The metal you are using. Here we use Aluminum (not from cans)
• The shape you’re duplicating
Please note that this process involves working with high temperatures and molten metal, and safety precautions should be followed to prevent accidents or injuries. Additionally, ensure proper ventilation when working with materials that produce fumes during the burnout process.
And this process is challenging. This is not easy to do. Be careful and be patient.
Basic Instructions for a Challenging Project.
1. Make ComposiMold mold from object
2. Make wax casting of original object
3. Make plaster or ComposiStone mold from wax casting
4. Melt/burn out wax from plaster mold
5. Melt metal
6. Preheat plaster mold
7. Pour in metal
8. Cool
9. Break away plaster mold
10. Clean up casting

nice tutorial, next to your advice about hot metal being hot, make sure the plaster does not have a lot of moisture on it. The oven when removing the wax should dry it but be careful, moiture and hot metal dislike each other and may end up with a violet release of steam causing hot metal and hot pieces of the plast to fly around
