Great work on the framing and floor! Will that styrofoam board hold water when wet on the floor vs a closed cell foam like the pink foamular board? I've been looking to do my floors in my old 1648 Landau, but have been looking into the different foam used when I found this video.
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats3 жыл бұрын
The pink stuff is great, I've actually been using the green foam from Lowes which is supposed to be even better than the pink. Problem is a can only get it in.one inch which is too thick for this boat.The white rtec is coated but when cut it does expose the ends. I used it in last build, it got swamped, no issues. My thought is if water gets in it won't stay long, and foam should not make contact with it for long. If so 99% of the surface of foamis protected, minus the ends. For me, I'm not worried, minimal risk to get height I need. If your boat is constantly sitting outside or left with water in it often, maybe go a different route. Then again, if that's the case I wouldn't invest much in a build because it will get trashed anyhow in the weather.

Which electric outboard you running on your 12’! ePropulsion spirit 1.0 or ePropulsion navy 6.0?
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats3 жыл бұрын
It's designed to run both. Battery compartment in front deck for the 48v to power the Navy and keep weight distribution proper. Or remove Battery and run Spirit. Also the option of running the Spirit with the Navy battery as an external back up battery.

Not that I know of but if I planned on constantly having water inside the boat, I would have built slightly different. If it cannot breathe and dry, channels are blocked, or water in it constantly, expect negative consequences.
@duraluminum3 жыл бұрын
So I've watched people do this before (level down) when working on a boat. For that to work right you boat has to be perfectly level to start with. The best thing to do is just measure off your existing seats while checking to see if the seats are square with the transom. Everything should work off the transom.
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats3 жыл бұрын
The boat is level. I'm building it on a custom boat stand that is level. On a 10 inch piece it would honestly be pretty hard to get to far out of level without noticing it by eye. I'm not sure what your referring to in the video as it has been a while. I rely more on leveling down to make a mark as a plane. Then using a square to ensure it's a 90 degree upright. The top horizontal for back and front deck were measured off the bow and transom, planning down square should give you accurate return. This boat was made in the 70s, nothing is square or even, hard to go off of much in it thats existing.
@duraluminum3 жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats using the square would be how I would do it ...off of the floor ribs. I guess I have watched other people use a level on the front of the boat not realizing that the bow of the boat actually starts to curve upwards. I guess I shouldn't get so picky as most boat mods actually turn out pretty nice looking even if they aren't exactly perfectly built. Thanks for responding.

Instead of rivets wouldn't it be better to weld it in for better strength and structure?
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats2 жыл бұрын
This is a DIY project. If you have the abilities to weld, do it. I've never had an issue with rivets because I do them properly. Welding is welding..rivets are rivets. Most guys n this platform watching my vids aren't trying to be welders or buy allthat equipment. I do have a welder now but did not at the time of this video. I will complete this boat using rivets though because my audience want to see how they could replicate what I do from a diy standpoint.
