Thanks for this video. I've been keeping my two cards in separate, back to back mylar envelopes, wrapping both in double foil with packing tape to keep the protected mylar envelopes secure. Good to know I'm protected.

Good! Years ago I took a couple of layers of heavy duty foil and encased it in some Contact paper 3" wide x 7.5" long, and put that in the outermost pocket of my bi-fold wallet (where dollar bills would go). The contact paper protects the foil against being damaged. I already had the foil and contact paper so it only cost me a few minutes of time to construct. It's holding up well, so I can't justify buying a Vault card or even an RFID wallet.

What about encasing some aluminum foil within an 8.5"X11" sheet of heat-activated plastic document protectors (like large ID card sheathing) then cut strips wide enough to slip your cards into like a mini-folder then place within your wallet? It would be thicker, to be sure, but it would be FAR more durable than the contact paper/aluminum foil pieces. In the case of a bifold wallet or billfold, it could remain inside the wallet in the paper money area and always be available to protect your cards, assuming the aluminum foil needn't be in direct contact with the card(s) to be protected. Sound feasible?

I would think that would work well. You're basically creating your own mini-RFID wallet to go inside your other wallet. I still like the VAULTCARD as a simple, effective solution.

You could get a business card and cover it in aluminum tape, and then keep it next to your RFID card. Or use the aluminum tape to make a sleeve that goes around your card in your wallet.

Sure, glad to do it. I've been wondering about using aluminum foil for quite some time.

Thanks. One could make one's own sleeve, with or without cardboard to stiffen.

Absolutely. They're pretty cheap to buy though.

@theoldguy9329 5 жыл бұрын
@@disasterprepper I agree. But it would be cheaper and fit more than one card. Good product for the important places, good solutions for the less important. Almost as with Faraday cages.

I have an old metal card case. It was made before RFID was a thing I think. Will it work as well?
@disasterprepper
@disasterprepper 3 жыл бұрын
My guess would be yes.

What about placing a strip of aluminum tape (with the paper backing still on) in the paper money slot of a wallet? I just started doing that and so far the readers at two stores in the area have not been able to read the card. To be fair, I also inserted smaller pieces of tape in two other spaces in the wallet but none are directly next to the card.

if you have a chip card can this be skimmed or do you still need the added protection ?

@neutraluser4019

Why must you wrap it and not put one piece of aluminum foil on one side of the wallet and another foil on the other side of the wallet. 😅

Hi doctor !! Haw are you !! Dose thickness of foil makes different ?? What if I take very cheap 2 fold or 3-fold wallet and in very first banknotes pocket slip in thick pice of foil reinforced with duck tape !! Will it work ?? What if I fold foil in 2 or 3 layers ?? Thanks !!
@disasterprepper
@disasterprepper 4 жыл бұрын
The thickness doesn't really make a lot of difference. Even one layer around the cards would be adequate to block detection. One way to know for sure is to try your setup with a single card and see if a card reader can see the card. It's pretty easy to block RFID readers.

Can you place a piece of foil in the billfold section of a wallet to protect the cards in their slots?
@disasterprepper
@disasterprepper 5 жыл бұрын
Based on my testing, I don't believe that would work well. The foil has to be directly against the credit card to be protect it.

So if aluminum foil works fairly well, what about lead foil?
@disasterprepper
@disasterprepper 3 жыл бұрын
Sure, it would work. I'm not a big fan of handling lead products due to the possibility of lead poisoning.

This was great. Answered my questions. Thanks. Also, I find it funny, as well as weird, that you're talking and testing things to protect your identity, yet wearing an apple watch which is clearly taking all your biometric data and sending it off to the mainframe, as well as sending you emfs. Good one.

I'm testing products that help to block skimming of credit card info. It is true that I voluntarily surrender the privacy of some of my personal data, but I'm not aware of it being used to commit fraud. I'm not terribly concerned about such things. As for EMFs, I have a channel that I'm starting on the subject. There is a lot of misinformation on the subject out there. kzbin.info/door/4I6xp6vmeAcEn9xUG4oevg
